i didn't like favre in green bay either in fact i broke several controllers after packer viking games during his era. with that said, i had a ton of fun watching him in 09 and he earned my respect as a football player that season especially considering his age.

Many other names get bombed pretty often, as well. I'll never understand it.

Honestly it does not really matter to most people.
If you spelled their name wrong, I would not care. I
know there are a group of people in this world who like
correcting others spelling or grammar; like hateful
red pen using English teachers who get some physical
pleasure crushing students wills. I honestly have much
better things to do than be a red pen grammar ####.

LOL! Yeah, that's me, I'm a hateful "red pen grammar ####" who gets "physical pleasure" from telling people they spelled Cris Carter's name wrong.

When someone informs you, without any malice intended at all, that you spelled the name of one of your favorite players incorrectly, instead of being defensive about it and lashing out with a number of extremely insulting comments, why not simply set just a tiny bit of personal pride aside, realize you made an error and file the information away for future reference? I assume you prefer it when your own name is spelled correctly, no?

I wouldn't have mentioned the spelling of Carter's name at all if you hadn't literally been the third person in this thread to get the name wrong. It's not a big deal and it's certainly not a personal insult to point it out. However, I definitely appreciate you taking the time to be extremely nasty in response to a friendly correction. Have a nice day!

Not to mention, if someone always spelled YOUR name wrong, how would you feel? Most of the people who work for me are Hmong, and their names are obvoously not conventional. I make it a point to pronounce and spell their names correctly. I feel it is disrespectful when people don't take the time to learn those names.

The correction might not have been intended that
way on your part. My point was I don't understand
why some people are critical of things that really
do not matter. To answer your question, yes I would
not care if my name was spelled incorrectly, at all.
I am not defined by the spelling of my name by others.
Maybe I was defensive about it, but I have my reasons
for it, I assure you. The internet brings out the worst
in people, at times. To be honest I will probably spell
many things incorrectly; as a youth I would have done
it on purpose to irritate someone. I quess I will always
be the kind of person who see the world as black or
white. I have no trouble responding to someone with
barbed tongue. Maybe that is why sometimes
when I get corrected, I fire the shot right back. Anyways
my point was not too offend you personally as much
as to point out that some people really get off correcting
others grammar and spelling.

That being explained sorry for the offense, Jim.

These lists always change somewhat for me; this is how I'm feeling today:

Favs:
1. Adrian Peterson: Will go down as the best player in Vikings history, if he isn't already. Spectacular.
2. Alan Page: First defensive player named MVP. Also a very classy, single-minded individual. Followed a beat from a different drummer.
3. Fran Tarkenton: My first favorite player. Loved his scrambling and the excitement he brought to the game.
4. Chuck Foreman: He always died hard. Loved his spin move.
5. Cris Carter: Best hands in history and a former Ohio State Buckeye.

Least:
1. Herschel Walker: Was it his fault about the trade? No. But he'll forever be the representative of it.
2. Brent McClanahan: That fumble at the goal line against the Raiders broke my heart. Ok, I don't hate him. Just the memory.
3. Martin Harrison: How can I hate a role player? He made plays and was around the ball a lot ... but every time he made a play, he celebrated before the whistle. I can still remember him raises his fists in celebration after a sack — not realizing the fumbled ball was bouncing around his feet. It was recovered by the opponent.
4. Brett Favre: I appreciated his 2009 season, but the cost was too high to come so close, and fall short. And a Packer.
5. Jim McMahon: Sure, he was a warrior. And a Bear. That's enough for me.

Apology accepted and thank you very much for it. I sincerely appreciate it.

Now back to our favorite (and least favorite) Vikings!

That spin move really was a classic! There's a nice one just before the 1:00 in this Foreman highlight video:

Thanks for the link! The similarities between Peterson and Foreman are eerie. Unfortunately Foreman was before my time. Any chance he had a fumbling problem? He carried the ball away from his body quite a bit.

Yes, he did have a fumbling problem and it was the one thing I didn't like about his game. in 7 seasons with the Vikings he fumbled 52 times. He fumbled 12 times in '75!
