Here are some facts:

#1 - Incognito is a rough, in-your-face guy. He talks smack. He doesn't pull punches. It's not a bad trait for a professional football player who plays on the line.

#2 - Incognito was cleared of wrongdoing with the JM issue

#3 - Incognito is a GOOD PLAYER. A little dirty at times, but a GOOD, SOLID PLAYER at his position.

#4 - When the story regarding JM broke, ALMOST EVERY PLAYER ON THE DOLPHINS CAME TO INCOGNITOS DEFENSE <----- Pay close attention to this one, chums. It speaks VOLUMES about this man

I would gladly take someone like this on the team.

In college, at Nebraska, he repeatedly got into fights and was called for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. At one point, he was charged with three counts of assault and found guilty on one count of misdemeanor assault. He suspended indefinitely for repeated violations of team rules, got into a fight in the locker room and ultimately had to withdraw from classes and leave Nebraska. He transferred to the University of Oregon but was dismissed after one week for failing to meet the conditions he'd agreed to before his arrival (reportedly an anger-management course).

After joining the Rams, he developed a reputation for hard partying and eventually became a problem on the field again due to his lack of composure and inability to control his temper. He was benched and released because he couldn't control himself on or off the field. He drew more penalties in his 4 years with the Rams than any other player over that span and was called for unnecessary roughness 7 times.

Please, don't tell us our comments about this lout are "sad". He has a long and pretty continuous history of being an angry, undisciplined person on and off the field. He's been booted off of two teams for it and as we all know, he was suspended for his involvement in a controversy again last year. I don't care if he's a good football player. He's not the kind of player the Vikings, who have been trying to reduce the amount of bad publicity generated by their players for years, should add to their roster. They would be fools to sign him. He's the kind of player who could screw up a shot to win a division or a playoff game by losing hsi temper and committing an idiotic penalty at the worst possible moment.

The Vikes can find a good guard in the draft or find a free agent to upgrade the position who doesn't have Incognito's anger management and behavioral issues.

Remember: One man's prank is another's personal torture.

Quoting from the Wells Report: "Professional football is a rough, contact sport played by men of exceptional size, speed, strength and athleticism. But even the largest, strongest and fleetest person may be driven to despair by bullying, taunting and constant insults."

Let this not be a moment for debating whether Martin's reaction was too sensitive, or whether the Wells Report has misinterpreted and placed out of context how a locker room works. Let us instead accept that the NFL's growth mandates more formal boundaries for workplace behavior.
