How about Cassel with 3rd rd pick Mettenberger recovering and learning the system.

Thats why you don't draft any of the also rans at 8! And if you need to, trade out of the 1st totally, get more bullets in a better QB draft next year.

I don't trust banking on only one guy, unless it's Manziel or Bridgewater. If I am taking a 3rd round project I take 2, or I trade for Barkley and draft 1. You could go your way, but I would take both the injured guys, in hopes the stock is lower with Aaron Murry and Metenberger. you increase the odds that one rises to the top. But like I said in another post somewhere: Matt Barkley was seen as a number 1 pick in 2012, he went back to school, now he's junk, I don't buy it and I would trade for him, that could somewhat mimic the Packers getting Favre from Atlanta.

I think no matter which QB we draft we need to hedge our bet and take a 4th or 5th round flyer on another QB. As bad as it has been for us we may as well

LOL he's SMALLER then Ponder. About the same arm, maybe less accurate. Torn acl. If we are going to take a hurt QB, it better be Mettenberger who can throw the ball 100 yards and not break a sweat. My lord, you didn't have enough of Ponder the past 3 years? You #### about him more then me if that's possible. We need a big, strong pocket passer.

I would think Zimmer would rely on Turners input on this decision.

For th emost part, I disagree here. Input yes, but the final decision goes with Zimmer.

Remember, Norv is with the Vikes but 1-2 years.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

Williamson was drafted because he was fast, that is it. Was the worst pick in team history, bar none. And Ponder was a huge reach, projected maybe in the 2nd. They could have selected Keukly and drafter Ponder in the 2nd, or better yet Kaepernik.

For those who like Carr.....I'm not opposed to it but certainly NOT with the 8th pick. Have we not learned anything with the last Q/B we reached for. :?:

I think Dimitrius Underwood could rival that. I suppose Williamson was a bigger 'bust' just because he was taken higher in the 1st round, but they both were huge failures.

I think they will draft a QB high. With a new coaching staff, it's time to start a new era with a new QB to develop. Norv Turner can do that. It's a really exciting time to be a Vikings fan. We're watching a championship being put together. I don't know how long it will take, maybe a few years or more, but it is going to happen IMO.

This team already has a bit of a start with some nice young pieces. Patterson, Rhoades, Harrison Smith, Floyd, Kahlil, Rudolph. The retooling shouldn't be a long endeaver, 5 first rounders in 2 years was a nice thing. A QB and a few defensive pieces, and this team will start to contend. This 2013 team would have won this division with better QB play, and or better defensive play. Of course winning this division this year would not have meant they were a true contender, but they might not be as far away as some may think. A passer is a key at this point, because offensive weapons are in place. Norv is going to love having Patterson and Peterson.

I may have to rethink passing on the PCLs in the new stadium. :v):
