And thank god, but I think JFB will be gone before our 12th pick.
12th??

With any luck, all of the QBs who've been popularized in the press as "top 10 picks" will be gone by the time the Vikings pick in the 1st round. Which would mean that by definition any other QB selection will be a "reach" and we all know that Slick Rick doesn't want to look like he's reaching again.

I'm laying out a challenge. Why don't you post what you would do? Give us an idea of what PurpleKoolaid's ideal offseason is. When you do please spare us the fire Spielman jabs, because in this hypothetical situation he's gone and your in charge. Who would you hire for a coach? Who would you draft? Who would you sign in FA? Who would you let walk? Please enlighten us.

I'm sick of seeing people relentlessly trash everything that's thrown out without offering any suggestions of their own... other than Fire Spielman out of a Cannon, or run the Wilf's out of town with pitchforks. The other posters doing the same shtick are welcome to do the same.

I apologize to the original poster if this derails your post, but I've read too many posts on too many boards that degenerate into Spielman's an idiot B***h fest's without the complainers having the guts to lay out what they think should happen and open themselves to criticism. Hopefully if someone decides to take me up they'll have the respect to open their own thread.

No I agree. This mock is just my opinion and it's an offseason that will fill many holes. Anyone that actually thinks they "know" what's going to happen in this draft is talking out of their rear. This is simply a situation that I posted and something that I would like to see happen. I follow the draft much more closer than anything else out there because this is how teams are built. PK...you're really going to complain about what the title is and try to start that bickering again??? Come on....go back and read my posts in those threads and you'll have your answers to any questions. For those who have spoke up and appreciated the time I put into this...I respect that and thank you guys for that. PK.... you can either go bark up another tree or take the time to create your own "genius" offseason since you think you "know" so much

I like the work you did on this. Question. Do we get compensatory picks for JA and Gerhardt this year or next?

looks like next year. maybe we can add a 6th in a trade involving Ponder. Never doubt Rick

I could see Ponder being traded. And yes, we would get picks next year

Say anything you want. Propose anything you want. I asked you to lay out what you would do if you were calling the shots. The only thing I said not to say was fire Spielman or get rid of the Wilfs because for the purposes of this discussion Spielman is gone and Wilf has given you the complete unfettered run of the show.
You are now the Vikes GM. You have the 8th pick in the draft, one high 2nd rounder, two 3rd rounders + 4th,5th & 6th round picks. Lets estimate around $20-24 million in cap space (sorry, can't find an exact amount) the current roster and plenty of pending FA's.

Here's the pending FA list I swiped from another thread:
UFA:
DE Jared Allen
OL Joe Berger
LB Desmond Bishop
CB Chris Cook
DT Fred Evans
QB Josh Freeman
RB Toby Gerhart
DE Everson Griffen
OL Charlie Johnson
LB Marvin Mitchell
WR Jerome Simpson
OL J'Marcus Webb
WR Joe Webb
DT Kevin Williams

RFA:
RB Matt Asiata (ERFA)
LB Larry Dean
CB Marcus Sherels

Use your imagination.

This should be good!!.....and to add to that. The Vikings have a little over $25 million in cap space. Refer to the last post in the free agent thread I created. Everything is there for you.

Thanks, I don't want what I said earlier to be perceived as picking on anyone, or that I don't want to see dissenting voices. Different opinions are valuable, I just would really like to see what some of these dissenting voices have to say about what the team should do... other than different versions of Spielman's an idiot and should be fired. If your gonna tell me someone's a dope for doing such and such, at least tell me what you believe he should've done.

Love your post. I will respond more when I get a chance, but appreciate the food for thought you've supplied.

This is an awesome thread. I truly enjoyed the original post. I'm not a draft guru so won't be engaging in the debate other than to say I hope they take BPA at every pick and let the chips fall where they may .

Pondering Her Percy wrote:And about any of these picks coming true....I actually had us taking Rhodes and Hodges in last years mock that I did on my last forum!!
That's impressive. Very cool. I liked Rhodes a lot when he played as a Seminole, but in no way did I believe he was going to be a Viking. I'm thrilled that he's on the team.

But then, I was convinced that Floyd would be off the board and Patterson would probably be as well when the Vikings picked in R1.

What do I know? :D

YES!!! I love it!! Excellent response!!! I wish more did that instead of going along with the hijacking and turning the thread into something it isn't!
