He is also as close to a god as we will ever see play football. He doesn't need it. Now Ponder may need the attention on AD and not on him, but don't you think its time Ponder grows up? I mean the kid is married and all....
I'm all for a reasonably cautious approach but at some point, a player will either hold up or he won't. There's no reason to believe AD can't get through a quarter or two of preseason football without an injury so I have no problem with him playing, especially if the coaches see value in it. Plenty of superstars are seeing the field this preseason and they do every year. I understand that the games are meaningless but the coaches obviously don't feel the work is meaningless or half the starters wouldn't see the field at all during the preseason.
Where have you been all my life?!?I guess that's where we differ. I think the risk is always there. If the coaching staff feels AD and/or the team will benefit from the work, I have no problem with him playing in a preseason game. As I see it, that's just a part of every NFL player's job and they need to get through it healthy just like they need to get through practice healthy.
I remember people talking about Greenway starting on ST when he blew out his knee Before he blew out his knee. Im not sure if it was on this site, I don't think so. But that ticked a lot of people off. If AD played more then a series and got hurt, people may burn down the Dome.CbusVikesFan wrote: Settle Down Beavis!!!!![]()
I can only imagine telling AP that he will sit out and only practice during the whole preseason. Being that he is AP, and he DOES NOT need to really be in there, is the reason he will be starting tonight. He's the BEST.![]()
Now Ponder is a whole different scenario. It was my feeling that he could have used the extra reps during the last two games.
IDK. Sure, he does risk potential injury, but he also does the first "real game" also. As good as he is, he need to get *some* reps with the offense just to get used to working with the new players in a game situation. I'm not for him taking unnecessary risks in a meaningless game, but I'm not opposed to him playing a series or two (or a quarter, etc.).PurpleKoolaid wrote:I remember people talking about Greenway starting on ST when he blew out his knee Before he blew out his knee. Had plenty of room to step into it. Lobs it up wildly.Purplemania wrote:Good shot down the field....but Ponder needs to put less air in those long throws.
But there was a guy within 5 feet of him, give the kid a breakJeffbleedspurple wrote:Nice opening pass by Ponder, NOT!
