Of course I'd have said nothing about it; it would have been just another poor decision in Preseason--one of millions. The fact that it ended up causing an injury made it relevant to the discussion and, specifically, that great sentence that Jim wrote the other day that got you all worked up.
But just because I'd have said nothing doesn't make Cousins' decision any better. The play is a good illustration of what some of us are pointing out: that the preseason isn't about winning the game at any cost, but rather evaluating your talent and not accruing significant injuries.
Do you get the irony of debating this stuff in this particular thread? I have to think that the writer of the article is following this thread and having a great laugh.
PS I would like to propose an addition to your signature line (where you quote yourself):
"The football God hates Vikings fans (even in Preseason)!"
What sentence that got me all worked up? I don't even know what you're referring to, so it must not have been that significant.
Somewhere along the lines here you are missing the point that he wasn't trying to be fancy or make a play; he was trying to run out of bounds to avoid a hit. I don't think for one second he was trying to win the game at all costs or anything of the sort. He was just doing what he is asked to do. I think you are over-exaggerating the situation to fit your argument to be honest with you. And, also, he didn't get seriously injured or anything. It's a sprained foot. And he's a backup player. The Skins are doomed! Funny how we should judge other teams and call them out for stupid stuff all while sugarcoating our own situation. I can see the logic behind that, too.
It almost seems as if you want these guys to play powderpuff football during the preseason. Because, after all, if running out of bounds (when you think you can make it) is too risky, no starters should be playing at all. Should they? Why risk it? If you know they are making the team, don't even play them at all. Just play the guys trying to fight for the roster spot. After all, the games mean nothing and no one should even try. Getting tackled is too scary!
I don't believe I ever said a team should try to win at all costs. I just believe that teams DO try to win, even with their second and third string players. I know you might not believe it by watching our Vikings, but...teams DO actually try to win in the preseason.
And also, I don't understand what is so funny about discussing this in this thread. Just because I want the Vikings to play better, be more in sync, and hopefully win in the preseason and I voice that, it means that I've given up on the team, think the sky is falling, and I'm a naysayer? Get out of town with that junk right now. Sorry I'm not satisfied with how things looked against the Bills and I expect a little better. And, yes, I expect a little more effort from our guys--particularly our o-line. But, I guess I'm asking too much; being too hard on the guys. I'll lighten up. I don't want to hear a peep out of anyone when Ponder gets his head ripped off, though. Because, that was my biggest concern. That is the ironic part. That I'm concerned about our play mostly because of how it affects our starting QB. But, now I know why we looked so bad. We weren't trying. The Vikings have the "It's only preseason" mentality. Hopefully that works out for them on Sunday vs. the Niners.
Again, I'm just a BAMF because I expect NFL players to, ya know, play tackle football and not two-hand touch. For y'all's sake, I hope AD doesn't even play in the preseason. And if he does, I hope he falls down as soon as the ball hits his hands so he doesn't get tackled. It's not worth the risk. If it's stupid for Cousins to not avoid the hit (while, ya know, trying to avoid the hit), why in the heck is AD going to take one? He better not even be dressed on Sunday.

He just better not be. I pray Frazier is as smart as you guys.
