These away uniforms are beyond boring. Need to see the white jerseys over purple pants, cause these are just plain bad.

Boy I love these road jerseys!! I like them better than the home ones, actually. They look good!

Still annoying how the helmet doesn't match the home jerseys...or the purple on the numbers etc of the road jerseys.

I like the matte but wish they could find a way to match it. Maybe try matte purple for the jerseys/pants themselves?

And here I thought it was mostly love for the uniforms when they were first released. What changed?

I was actually unsure about them, but they are growing on me. I like them just fine. They seem really thin and cheaply made, though. They look almost like regular t-shirts at times. But as far as the colors/style...I like them.

Besides, if all we have to complain about is "the uniforms" I think we're doing pretty darn good. Thing is though: our uniforms are the least of our worries at this point! Forget about the jerseys already, and focus on our play!

I do like the Bills' jerseys, though. :)

P.S. If y'all don't like the jerseys/uniforms...don't buy/wear them! Problem solved! :D That's all the say you really have in protest.

Could be my imagination, but the helmets looked a little shinier tonight. No reason they can't throw a coat of wax on them, which I suspect they did. With the white jerseys, I didn't notice any color mismatch. There may also be difference in the lighting at Ralph Wilson Stadium vs. that of the Metrodome.

I think it's natural vs artificial light. Still, Nike should have done their homework. I think it could have been remedied or at least made less noticeable had they gone with a darker purple on the jerseys.

Ya, dark purple would have been better. There was that leak earlier this summer from a Nike intern or someone who said the Vikings unis were "retro and awesome" and I got my hopes up that "retro" meant a return to the dark purple. Alas, such was not the case.

The numbers didn't bother me initially but the more I see em the more I dislike them. Some numbers are worse than others but overall totally unnecessary and pretty much the opposite of retro. I still like these new unis better than the 2006 version, though. I'm glad they changed.

And, to top it off, different kinds of artificial light will make them look even another slightly different color.

Uni Watch Power Rankings: NFL
#17 Minnesota Vikings +14

The Vikes' return to aesthetic respectability carries the whiff of Nikefied gimmickry: the odd sleeve stripes and asymmetrical pants stripes, the weird numbering system, the matte helmet that doesn't appear to match the jersey -- all of this is unnecessary. Still, it's all so much better than what they were wearing before that it qualifies as a major leap forward.

He absolutely nailed it. "Nikefied gimmickry". A lot of unnecessary crap, but still a big improvement over the last monstrosity. Note the +14 move, up from #31.

I imagined your response read in a Scooby-Doo voice. Then I lolled.

I had never really thought about the uniforms that much. Purple? check Horn? check....and we're clear.

To each their own and such....but I will remain nonplussed even if we win the uniform superbowl.

S197 wrote:For me it's not so much the difference in color between helmet and jersey, we've seen that in prior uniforms, I think they just chose the wrong purple. They should have gone with a much darker purple. A good example is the throwbacks, which I think are far and beyond the best looking jersey the Vikings have had in a while. The helmet and jersey are not the exact same purple but it works because the whole color palate is darker than what they use now. If Nike wanted to go retro, they should have stuck with the retro purple IMO.

This is what I was hoping for but of course....Nike has an agenda to make things look awful. Notice how only the Rams and Bengals kept that abortion neck roll design?

The Helmets suck. I hate how we're the guinea pig for uniform designs. I love how we actually have stripes and not some horn cone design on our pants. I personally know the guy at Nike who helped design and I haven't had the heart to be like "DUDE, WTF"

I'm getting used to the uniforms and color, very TCU Horned Frogs, but is that a good thing?

Well folks, it works like this. If the color bothers you that much, do this. Take your remote for the TV, go to the menu and adjust your color setting until it's in black and white. Then you can make believe you are watching a game in the 60's before most people had color TV's. The greys should be almost a perfect match for your eyes.

Does that make the defense dominant too?

It might! Make the QB better as well. You just never know. Uniforms will look like throwbacks.
