And if we ever win the Super Bowl, and or the Cubs can win a World Series, either way I may just light myself on fire.
Oh no! Not a Cubs fan too! Do you like pain?

And your basketball team?

As for basketball, I like my hometown team, the Jazz. I know. But I also follow my favorite players a little more than a hardcore team fan like I am with the Cubs and Vikes.
You're just plain asking for trouble being a Vikings fan and a Cubs fan. I do know that much.

My basketball team is the Magic. I'm not huge on baseball, but I root for the Indians--and Twins. I suppose for basketball I root for the 'Wolves, too. I'll be moving back to Minnesota one of these years. I'll adopt everything Minnesota eventually. But for now, it's the Vikes and Magic for me mostly. I'm pretty much in the same boat! lol. Although, I'm not sure anything is as bad as liking the Cubs!

Good luck with that!

You're gonna need it! My Great Grandma is a HUGE Cubs fan. That woman watches every game that is on TV. She's 86. I suggest they hurry up and win it for her!

Haha yeah, being a Cubs fan these days is pretty retched. I, unfortunately haven't missed a game yet this season and WOW! Are they bad haha
At least I am a huge fan of both MJ and Kobe, so there was some winning involved there. My other favorite is Marbury. He at least won a championship last year in China haha
Marbury? How old is he these days? I remember the name. I used to be big into basketball when I was in elementary school. Not sure how old you are, but the *big* thing back then was collecting basketball cards. lol. Not sure how I got into that, but I was. I blame my friends! I was a regular little boy in some ways! (I'm a female if that's not obvious...some people tend to be slow around here.

) But yeah, I have a couple boxes of basketball cards somewhere! I had tons of good ones, too! I was pretty proud of that collection. lol. I have a whole book of Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway ones! He was my man! Since then, I've grown up...sorta. Now I just collect everything Vikings. I think I have a slight addiction. No joke. I should probably seek help.
Thanks for warning me about the Cubs playing poorly. I'll try to avoid mentioning it the next time I visit my Great Grandma. lol. I don't wanna get her on a roll! Poor thing! I feel her pain, though! I get it!

As opposed to being what? A "fake" fan?
I swear, sometimes this board makes me feel old. LOL
Been a fan since around '71 or 72. My parents were NOT into sports and I liked the Vikings because my brother hated them. He was a Raiders fan. And Im from Wisconsin, Go figger.

Marbury is somewhere in his early-mid 30's now. And yeah, I am 29 so I know all about the old days of collecting cards all that stuff. I actually still have a ton of cards. but these days I just try and get some Cubs and Vikings stuff outside of some basketball ones. It's a hobby I never really grew out of I guess.
And yeah, you don't really want to get Cubs fans going during this terrible rebuilding process haha especially her, she has felt the pain much longer!
Oh, and I pretty much assumed you were female when I first seen your name on here haha
Collecting cards was so exciting! I remember buying them (well...making my Mom buy them lol) and being SO excited about ripping into them and seeing who was in there. Then we'd all take them to school and trade them and junk. Wow. Back in the good ol' days!

I'd be much more excited about football cards at this point, but I think at 25, I need to let that go. Thankfully, I let it go like 15 years ago. However, I did buy a few packs of football cards for the heck of it in the last few years. lol. Cheap entertainment!
As far as realizing I'm female--yes. It should be obvious. Very obvious. Someone on Vikings.com didn't realize it one time--and already one person on here didn't know. It's just the oddest thing. To me, "Melanie" is a female's name...but what do I know?

Maybe people are just shocked that a female is on a football message board so they try to think of something else that it stands for! Who knows? I've had a few *fancy* people use the female card on me during discussions, but usually it's not a problem. This is the third message board I've been on in about 6 years. I thought about changing my screen name, but I decided not to because of some "old friends" I might eventually run into. Maybe some enemies too. lol. I've made my fair share.

Gary Cuozo was the QB first time I remember seeing them on TV. Guess that was before tarkington was traded back. I thought it was 72 but I guess it was 71. Man , I'm freaking old

Started watching games in the late 60's with my dad (he was addicted back then like many of us are now) but the addiction was passed on to me and I have spent the last 40 plus years watching, screaming, cheering, second guessing and at times praying for that moment when the last second ticks off the clock and we can finally celebrate as super bowl champions. It hasn't always been an enjoyable ride but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

1998. Randy Moss was the biggest reason I became a fan of the Vikings. Plus 1998 was a great season and I decided to stick with the team full time after that.

Late 96 and an awful playoff game against Dallas.
Remember my friend JJ leaving at the half saying
"I've seen enough of that crap !"

Laserman. 1971 they had Norm Snead, Gary Cuozzo, and Bob Lee. Please spell Tarkenton as such. It's not Tarkington. Brent Mustberger always pronounced his name as Tarkington, He did it for years on CBS NFL Today. Always irritated the hell out of me.

Then he'd be pleased to know you misspelled his name (it's Musberger)...
... or did you do that on purpose?
It always bugged me when people would call Tarkenton "Tarkington" too.
