People beat it to death because Spielman keeps saying we will build through the draft and then overspends for an already injury prone TE (if which we already had alot of). I guess if Carlson is his idea of a good FA, then we should build through the draft cause this was the biggest FA waste since Hechel Walker.

Good for you. I was brought up differently and I won't go any further with this even though this is a Christian based board. I believe the rules prohibit talking about religion or politics on this board. :v):

True, but I think that Harvin is a bigger "deal" than is Carlson. Any way so far Carlson has definately been a disapointment. He has been injured and is new to the system. Hopefully he will turn things around this year.
I was more referring to "Yes that stupid Spielman screwed up again" type of rhetoric .

That's why this thread should be locked. If people don't know this by now, they simply aren't paying attention.

Carlson missed one game in his 3 seasons with the Seahawks, but he was injured this year. He was so forgotten about, I have no idea what his injuries were.

No, in pure dollars it's not cheaper to keep him. But it "only" costs them another $1.8M to keep him for next season, so balancing that against the cap hit they would take, and in the hope that he just had a bad year, the obvious move is to keep him around for at least one more season.

Yes, the Vikings would take a fairly substantial cap hit by releasing him now, but a cap hit doesn't cost them money. It costs them room in which to pay other players, which can often be worse, but those dollars are already spent.

Sorry, but you be a little more dramatic?

Herschel Walker was a trade, not a free agent acquisition, and comparing that trade to signing Carlson is laughable. The Walker trade may go down as the worst trade in the history of football, or damn close. The Carlson deal was bad, but probably not even the worst FA signing last off season.

Gotta love people who post without knowing the facts. Just like everyone keeps saying the Vikings offered less than Baltimore to Matt Birk. Who would confuse a trade with a FA signing? LOL!

:deadhorse: Carlson was a good FA prospect signed to fill a need. He was injured and did not perform worth a crap WE ALL GET IT
Perhaps that he can get healthy again and return some dividends. But if it makes some fans feel better to post over and over what a bad signing it was then

Robert Meachem signed a 4 year, $25.5 Million contract with the Chargers and had 14 catches.

The Kansas Viking
A Christian website devoted to Faith, Jesus Christ and Minnesota Vikings Football. I might be mistaken some times but feel very right about this
kansasviking.com is not vikingsmessageboard.com.

To my understanding the board is dedicated to Vikings football and nothing else. If it is actually dedicated to faith and Jesus Christ in some way it has never come up ... and I probably shouldn't be a mod or member, being an athiest and all :P

That said, I don't see his image as violating any rules. It's not a personal attack and it's not even actually an attack on Christianity ... like others have mentioned it's a play on Peterson's nickname.

If you find his image offensive I would recomend foeing him. His name is also "Purple Jesus" so if you're offended by the image you're probably also offended by his name.
