Eli wrote:No, that is absolutely NOT true. Do you think Adrian Peterson's future, or Matt Kalil's or Chad Greenway's or Kevin Williams' or Jared Allen's future would be uncertain in a contract year? HELL no. The only uncertain thing would be the number of zeroes on their new contracts. These guys are the core of the team and Wilf and the Vikings have bent over backwards to accommodate stars like them.

Harvin is in another boat entirely, whether or not fans want to believe it. I'd compare his situation somewhat with that of Sidney Rice. The Vikings simply may not be willing to offer as much money as other teams. Knowing what they know about Harvin's medical and injury background, the Vikings' contract offer could include a lot of incentives, as Pelissero speculates. That may not sit well with Harvin and his agent.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Harvin traded. It's far from ideal, but I'm sure the Vikings have a much better feel for the situation than anyone here can guess. If they see problems in re-signing him, or they have reservations about writing Harvin a blank check, then it would be in their best interest to pick up a couple of draft picks for the guy rather than having him walk away after next season.
My point was that there's always a degree of uncertainty in a contract negotiation, not that there's always the same degree of uncertainty.

All I got from that article was that there was a post-injury heated exchange between Harvin and Frazier and that rampant speculation about Harvin's future continues. As Pelissero pointed out:
At this point, I don't see much fire to go with the smoke. It's clear that the Vikings will need to offer Harvin a new deal or face the emotional fallout of failing to offer one. It's equally clear that none of these reporters and insiders have a clue what will happen next. They obviously don't know if Harvin wants to stay or go and they don't know if the Vikings want to keep him, how much they'd be willing to pay him, the exact nature of the heated exchange between Harvin and Frazier, etc.

Basically, although Pelissero provided a few new details, all this article reports is that Harvin's future is uncertain, something we've known for the better part of a year. Rumors are clearly swirling but there's no concrete information from the main parties involved: the Vikings, Harvin or agent Joel Segal.
My apologies, I did not see that the article was from that tool POS Pelissero.

Harvin's Diva act reminds me way too much of the bad Randy Moss. I've never bought the Migraine issue, it seem to conveniently come whenever he had to return punts, which he never wanted to do.

The organization has to decide again, is Harvin's talent worth more to them as a player or a trade bargain.

There's really nothing particularly newsworthy here but here's a link to the latest Harvin-related article:

Vikings' Leslie Frazier says he and Percy Harvin have 'good relationship'

When the hell did the Vikings ask him to return punts?

First let me say this. If he had a completer ligament tear in the ankle 4-6 weeks is a very optimistic time frame for being back on it. My wife had a complete ligament tear about 2 years ago that required surgery. It was about 8 weeks before she could even put weight on it. And to top it off she also had a tear along the achilles that went undiagnosed until he ligament started to heal. Couldn't see it on the x-ray or MRI because it went with the grain. All told, it's been 2 years and she is still working on getting full function back.

That being said, when Percy comes out and says he wants to be traded I will believe it. I don't like "unknown" or "unnamed" sources. Percy was more than likely put on IR because the docs knew that in order to heal properly it would take more than 5-8 weeks. It you push that type of injury and don't let it heal properly, than down the road it becomes easier to have the same type of injury again.

As to his contract. If my memory serves me correct, the Vikings have historically been slow to do long term contracts with star players. They usually do them in the off season.

So you have forgotten the fainting spell Harvin had from supposed Migraine at practice in August of 2010? He was asked by Childress to return punts. Harvin fainted in the open field.

Ever since Brad Childress was fired from the organization, Harvin's Migraines days seemed to have magically disappeared.

Childress: Percy, we want you to return punts as well.
Percy: Can't coach, I have a problem with my eye.
Childress: Problem with your eye?
Percy: Yeah coach, I can't see myself doing that.

Then the headache started. :D

Even if PH is one of those guys that has issuses we dont trade him. He is the best at whatever he does. We have a big name player on the other side of the ball to trade that isnt doing as well as he has been, if someone is so interested in trading away our good players. We have enough bad ones to drops if we draft good ones.
