It isn't dirty dealing. The franchise tag was agreed to by the NFLPA. The franchised player is guaranteed to get a lot of money if he so chooses to sign the tag.
If you franchise a guy because you value him and want to keep him its one thing. If you franchise him so you can trade him, hold out for more than the market is offering and severely damage his value on the FA market in the process, its pretty dirty. I really won't be shocked if Harris sits out the season and the Vikings have damaged their reputation with players throughout the league. Its a very Washington Redskins kind of move.
We absolutely do value him.

Are we not suppose to be discussing Trent Williams here?
Trent himself has been in kinda silent mode for about 3 days, as far as reaching out to my about what's going on. He seems to think this is indicating there are some dealings being made. Said as soon as he knows he will tell me

Thanks for the update. I think we were looking at similar situations so I was OK with the convo diverging from Trent a bit.

I all I can say now is his relationship with Wash is as strained as it has been. He is waiting to be a member of a new team believe me.

Some fans value him, but the team franchised him and immediately put it out there that they were seeking to trade him. When the teams sniffing around didn't meet the Vikings asking price, only then did we start hearing about negotiations for a longterm deal, followed by the report that they weren't close and he was back on the trading block. If you think this stunt hasn't cost Harris a LOT of guaranteed money on a contract this year, and potentially lots of career earnings over the course of the next few years should he not play as well or get hurt this season, I think you aren't looking at it from his perspective. He has been kinda screwed over by the Vikings. If I was his agent, he wouldn't be playing for the Vikings this year at all because it risks what is likely to be the highest market for his services as an NFL player that he is ever going to see.

Do you guys think we will sign Williams? I surely hope so because with this signing I believe we are going to be a playboy team....but we still need a guard or two

If I had to bet, I think we will make a trade for him, unless WAshington gets too greedy.

Well, he was good OL coach...and that was about the last time the Vikings had a good offensive line.

We value him without any question whatsoever. Are we interested in trading him if we can get good value? We are without any question whatsoever. We are willing to pay him over $11 million this year. We are willing to extend him. We are willing to trade him. The choice is Harris's barring a team making an offer too good for us to turn down. Us not accepting a trade offer for him yet is more evidence that we value him.

I meant head coach and Vikings still had a good offensive line with Childress and sucked ever since Childress got fired

Bashing Tice and praising Childress ... on this board? My hat is off to you for your bravery.
