Per @AdamSchefter Vikings are interviewing Mike Zimmer today. They're scheduled to interview Bengals OC Jay Gruden tomorrow

Bring jackson in too. Interview the whole Bengals staff! :)

One thing about Spielman's search seems clear so far: he's looking for a head coach with pro experience, not a college HC. He doesn't seem interested in position coaches either, just coordinators and former HCs.

Apparently Zimmer is far and above the choice for HC.

RIght, and everyone else they interview is going to be a potential great hire. I'm guessing that 98 percent of these interview are categorized as having gone well.

where do these sources come from? is every person that works for the Vikings a source for some sportswriter? Can't anyone keep their mouth shut? LOL

I Like Zimmer, but I hate the rumor mill.

I poked around that site a bit and found another widely speculative article on how the Vikings will sign Michael Vick to be our starting QB next year after we hire Zimmer, after Cassell walks, and we miss out on the top 4 draft prospects. Seems like an excellent example of yellow journalism to me--fashionable in these times unfortunately.

To me, there isn't a better candidate for this team than Mike Zimmer. I personally think the Vikings should hire Zimmer and get Hue Jackson as an offensive coordinator.

It just concerns me that he's been coaching so long and has never been a head coach at any level.

Maybe he'd be great...
Zimmer is a fiery guy, he isn't the type to tow the company line. That probably has a lot to do with it. Go on youtube, there is a 24 second clip of him talking to his defense on the sidelines. Bill Parcells with a dirty mouth!

You do have to be careful hiring a guy like that, there may be meltdowns, and he probably will flip his lid if the team is doing badly. A little like Mike Ditka maybe in that area.

I would love Zimmer tho, he is the exact opposite of what we have had here. I would just hope that if the antics got too much, NFL players will tune you out.

Yeah I just didn't know if I should post it Poet, with the language and all. The thing about that clip too, it's a preseason game.

I think Spielman is doing due dilligence this time and showing the Wilf's he will leave no stone unturned because he knows if this hire doesn't work out...He is the next one out the door! I do not want Zimmer. I would prefer Rob Ryan over him!

That's classic. Seriously? Pre-season? This would be night and day from Frazier to Zimmer. I would welcome a little fire.

Yeah I think that was from HBO hard knocks, thats all in preseason. There is also a part where Zimmer got pissed that this other coach was bouncing around to the different position practices. He was basically like leave my group the F alone, aint you got anything to do other than come hang over my gd shoulder. He is a no nonsense guy through and through.

Wanna see another profanity laced speach look up Mike Leach of Texas Tech, locker room rant, man he cusses a lot.

Not baseless. The fact is that the vast majority of successful coordinators will be mediocre head coaches, at best.
