He's not wrong. The only "problem" is you have to do with Wiki what you should do with *all* news - check the citations. At the bottom of every Wikipedia page there is a link with all the citations backing up the information.

You don't trust Wikipedia because anyone can edit it ... anyone can also create an article online (in this case DHRUV GEORGE??). Any citations here? Not a single one.

Thank you. I'm actually a $5 a year contributor to Wiki. IMO it's the least I can do for all the information they provide.

Over the course of his time as General Manager of the Minnesota Vikings, Rick Spielman has shown an ability to find talent in the later rounds of the draft that make immediate contributions to the team. The folks from Pro Football Focus have tabbed one of the team’s Day 3 picks as someone that is in a highly favorable situation, and someone that could potentially even start right away.

That player is defensive tackle James Lynch, who the Vikings selected with one of their fourth round picks two months ago. PFF thinks that the big man from Baylor has an opportunity to contribute immediately.

The 3-tech position for the Vikings was a barren wasteland in 2019. Starter Shamar Stephen was one of the most ineffective defensive linemen in the entire NFL and managed all of six pressures on 350 pass-rushing snaps. Conversely, Lynch led all of college football with 70 pressures on 501 pass-rushing snaps for Baylor last season. The Vikings didn’t add anyone else to address the position this offseason, meaning the path looks wide open for Lynch to take the job.
Lynch was ridiculously productive in college in his final year in Waco. He finished the season with 41 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks en route to winning a ton of awards (Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year, and First-Team All-American honors). He also had three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, five passes defended, and even blocked two kicks.

As PFF points out, there isn’t a whole lot standing in Lynch’s way if he’s going to make a run at claiming the starting job. Stephen isn’t really a three-technique tackle, at least in my opinion, and while the rest of the Vikings’ options at the position may provide some competition, it’s quite easy to envision Lynch being out there next to the newly-acquired Michael Pierce in the middle of the Minnesota defense when the 2020 season starts.

While I agree it would be a lot to expect Lynch to win the starting job outright, I think there is a real chance he could do it. Stephen wasn't great last year and doesn't strike me as having much room to improve, while Lynch played very well in college and showed a strong positive trend up to his senior year.

I thought Lynch would be gone by the end of the 2nd round. To get him where the Vikes got him in the 4th round was a steal. I guess I can understand why he fell, but I really liked him coming out and am psyched he's a Viking as I think he's going to have a great pro career.

I would feel better about him making an impact this year if he had more time working with the Vikings' trainers and coaches. He is about 10-20 pounds undersized for his frame and his biggest weakness is holding gaps against the run.

At 6'4" he should be over 300 lbs playing 3 tech, and at his current weight and skill set he probably works better as an edge rusher. Move him to LDE and let Ifeadi continue to play 3 tech on the inside in pass rush situations.

Yeah this is going to be interesting. Is he going to be able to transition inside. He played edge in a 3 DL defense and is now switching to a 3-tech in a 4-3. Not to mention getting used to the speed of the NFL. It's a lot to ask for a rookie, I think fans may want to temper expectations. I think he'll be a situational pass rusher year 1.

He's a steal where the Vikings got him. It will be hard for him to underperform that draft position, and thus equally difficult to believe he'll disappoint.

But your point is valid. He is a rookie and does need to step up and prove it.
