He looks to be a good enough downhill runner to replace Toby. They just need a change of pace back now.

Not a chance. There will be cardboard boxes in each of the coaches' offices when they get back to Winter Park.

It shouldn't have any impact other than providing further evidence that the team never gave up on them. Whatever decision the Vikes are going to make was probably made before this game was even played.

They were 6-3, then went 1-6

So.... what a miserable season this was... Have to bid good-bye to:

The Dome
Leslie Frazier & Co.
Christian Ponder (please!)
Jared Allen
Kevin Williams?
John Carlson
and probably a few more.

I think so too but who knows with the Lions?

Kevin Williams just spoke with Greg Coleman in support of Frazier. I hope this isn't Williams' last game with the team.

Good win. They came out flat in the 3rd quarter and to start the 4th, then stiffened. That's the way to do it.

Ended the season on a good note. That's all, folks.

Glad to see them close out the dome with a win and the defense preventing the scoring record.

So what's the draft pick, #8?

Would be nice to be able to keep both JA and KW to finish their careers here....I know doubtful but would be nice. Others ...see ya!

I think it was likely that Patterson and Rhodes were going to see their roles expanded when the coaching staff felt they were ready anyway. If you want to choose to believe that wouldn't have happened, you can choose to believe that but that's what it is: a choice, an assumption.
Okay? and what about the other 3 I named?? Also, Patterson and Rhodes started games because the ones above them got injured/had legal troubles....even if that didn't happen...what makes you think their roles would've expanded so quickly?? Also an assumption :D Bottom line is...they wouldn't have gotten the time they did if it wasn't for the injuries and suspensions and who knows how much time they wouldn't have gotten by this time. Then when you add in Cassel, Cole, and Carlson in with it....it makes Frazier look worse and worse.

Mothman wrote:The problem is you're seeing the good performances by players like Rhodes and Patterson as confirmation that you were right and ruling out the possibility that they did, indeed, need the time and seasoning the coaches felt they needed before assuming bigger roles. You're assuming they would have been as successful early on as they were in the latter half of the season but there's nothing to back up that assumption. Maybe the success they eventually had was due, in part, to the coaching and preparation they received. Ditto for Cole. Is that not a possibility?
Umm...I would have to imagine that Rhodes was a better outside CB than Josh Robinson from day 1, even Chris Cook as well. That's not hard to do. Patterson isn't much different....averaging 13 snaps throughout the first 3-4 games?? Come on. Maybe his route running was questionable but they could have easily sent him on reverses and got him the ball in the open field much more than they did. He's a very dangerous/explosive players....coaches don't teach that, it's god-given. So in turn, you find a way to utilize that...not play Joe Webb just as much/more than him. Just not a smart decision. And even Mayock and Kiper said on draft day....he doesn't have to be a great route runner when they have AP in the backfield. He would see a lot of 1 on 1 coverage.

I'm still unsure of why you're defending this coaching staff so much when they are about to get fired tomorrow. They're getting fired for obvious reasons. If they were good coaches, I would imagine we would have better seasons and keep them around. They can't get the job done and they're are many things that back that. Including the underutilization of players like I mentioned above.

Wonder if the Wilf's will have a little more class firing fraizer then they did with Tice, who was a much better coach.
