this is silly. There will be no media circus. I hadn't heard Michael Sam's name mentioned for months until today. People forgot very quickly and as long as he's out of the spot light, they'll forget again. And if he's in the spotlight, it'll be for his play which means the rams will gladly accept the media attention.

Any word on the Shaw kid? I know you and I like him. He's a real scrapper. Be nice to get him into camp if for no other reason to have an additional arm throwing balls around

Nothing so far. It's almost a certainty they bring in someone for that very purpose just a matter of who. Shaw had his ups and downs but I think he certainly deserves a look.

Shaw was signed by Cleveland

I actually like him as an athlete. Fun to watch. Won't hurt to give him a shot.

Like I said, I was using a hyperbole that really didn't need to be used earlier. I am not a scout - I am an amateur that loves the NFL draft. For all I know, any of our picks today could be future hall of famers.

I know what you mean but you can't draft them all so basically, you're always passing on a "football player" in the sense you mean. It happens every year because it's unavoidable. There are too many available.

Jordan Lynch went undrafted and he's a football player if I've seen one. The guy has tremendous will and genuine athletic ability but nobody wanted to invest a pick in him. He signed with the Bears after the draft ended.

Some of the late round players the Vikings drafted qualify as football players in the sense you mean too. It looks like they drafted some players today based on athletic ability more than performance, which is riskier, but they obviously have their reasons and sometimes those players work out as well.

By the way, I almost mentioned earlier that they may see Skov as similar Mauti or perhaps as unnecessary because of the inside 'backers they already have under contract so perhaps you're on to something there.

Teams have scouted many a pro that they've missed on. I should mention that my Skov mention has carried over from another board where I'm baffled overall that he hasn't been taken and not just from a Vikings standpoint. That's important because it's not that the Vikings didn't draft him...It's just why some of these other guys over him (after last post I think it's his similarity to Mauti) and how has no team picked him? They have their reasons...But he'll be a solid pro. Interested to see where he goes.

My guess is his injury history and speed both worked against him.

We all have our favorites and they don't always get selected. People get worked up about it every year. It's like a rite of spring. Skov will sign somewhere and get a chance to make an NFL roster.

I like him too. The Vikes focus this year was clearly on athletic ability!

Webb could crush Colter.
