I think you've all been more influenced by the narrative than the reality.

And I think some people decided what the reality was when he was drafted and nothing could change it.

And nothing did change it...

And you know what that difference is? All that has happened recently with AD is due to what?

I think we *all* view what has happened with our own lens. Just because Souhan views it differently than you and others doesn't make his view any less objective or correct. You might be right, but if you're honest with yourself, so might he. In fact, I'd put the odds on more people feeling similar to Souhan than to you, especially when AD's recent antics about playing elsewhere are taken into account. It's pretty hard to put a positive spin on that.

It will be really interesting to see the reception the Vikings and AD get when they go on the road this season.

Did you guys notice Peterson catching passes 5-8 yards out of the right tackle spot in OTA's

I know the Niners and Rams used to drive teams crazy with this (Rodger Craig and Marshall Faulk)

It will be nothing to even comment on IMO. Other than the Vike's/Organization/fans no one gives a rat's butt. It is all over with.

What a terrifying sentence. *All* is relative.

Souhan's view isn't objective. It's clearly subjective, strongly influenced by his personal feelings.

I imagine the Vikes and Peterson will encounter some pretty hostile fans on the road this season. They'll probably see some at home too. I'd certainly advise people against wearing a Peterson jersey to road games unless they want to put up with jeers about child abuse. I ran into that at the grocery store last Fall while wearing a Vikings jacket!

Peterson was at the Vikings playground-building event yesterday, as anticipated:

http://www.startribune.com/spielman-exc ... 306038321/
The Vikings continued their annual tradition of building a playground in a local neighborhood, this time in a park in the Falcon Heights area. Among the players in attendance today was running back Adrian Peterson.

Heavy rain and the threat of lightning forced players, coaches and team executives indoors, where they signed autographs for students at Falcon Heights Elementary. The playground project will be completed, though.
There are some brief comments from Spielman at the link, basically just expressing excitement, a desire to move forward and praise for Mike Zimmer.

Wow. Really? That's lame.

Here in TX I doubt you'd get that at all. Maybe in Whole Foods :o .

On a somewhat related note: I was at my son's pediatrician's office recently and I found it VERY interesting that the standard literature that they distribute about best parenting practices included a long section on NOT using spanking or other corporal punishments to correct a child's behavior. I was pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of discussion in relation to the AD incident in the press and on message boards that there are major cultural differences between the North and the South/ TX regarding child rearing. I get the sense that is a lot less true in urban areas.

I noticed that he seemed to be getting quite a few pass routes in OTA's. Wasn't sure if that was just what the highlights had, but it seemed like more than were used to. I'm curious to see how it works out this year. He's only played 1 game under Norv and it was the first game of the year so it's hard to get much from that one.
OTA June 3rd highlights has a bunch of passes to peterson: http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/vide ... 121565e016

It was very unusual for this area too. I think I just had the misfortune to encounter a jerk.

You might be right about that. It's interesting anyway!

I'm really glad AP is showing some contrition about the whole thing. He seems to realize that his stance against the Vikings wasn't warranted, and that his actions with his child were inappropriate.

As a fan and a person, that's all I can ask. Lord knows I've done stupid stuff in my life for which I was forgiven, even though I didn't really deserve it.

I'm also happy to have the Vikings WHOLE as a team. With Peterson in the lineup, I'm cautiously optimistic about our (gulp) playoff chances.

I'm in Dallas, and wearing just any Vikings sportswear might not incite a reaction, but a specified Peterson jersey might incite a comment, and I could see that happening in any football city. It will probably be the same in any city for a person wearing a Patriots jersey, # 12, that person will eventually hear someone say, "cheater." At a football game, he/she will hear it regularly, same as anyone might hear jeers wearing purple and #28. Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to rude behavior.

Addendum: The preceding was no comment regarding my views on the two players, but commenting on "comments to fans wearing certain jerseys," in Texas or anywhere. AP will certainly get sneers.
