Now that ive had time to cool down (doobie and a beer) i dont think it sucks, i think it really sucks. A first round draft choice for a mediocre QB? Injury prone, not very poised, etc. The wound from Teddys injury just got salted from Speilmans grandoise dice roll. And yep i thought Teddy was pretty damn good.
I still like Bradford but not for a flippin freakin first round pick. I wont say its Herschel Walkeresque in its magnitude of Duh. But come on. Yeesh.

The beer is having the opposite affect on me....I'm actually starting to warm up to it a bit after being pissed off since breakfast.

But I just can't get past the fear of an injury prone statue behind this OL. I can just picture Kalil doing his best matador impression, Bradford getting sacked.....and just laying there. Man I hope this never happens and I'm starting to see the potential upside to this trade IF the OL can even reasonably protect him.... maybe he can resurrect his career.

And as others like Jim mentioned it is good that its a 2 year contract so they have some insurance against the Teddy injury being a longer more difficult recovery than hoped

I think we need to give this "sacrifice Jim" a little more thought. Is it a coincidence that the Vikings have never won the Super Bowl while Jim was a fan? Hmmmm...

Uh, you call Bradford mediocre but think Teddy was 'pretty damn good'?

Guys you forget we are the Vikings. Bradford,takes us to the playoffs and gets hurt berfore the NFC championship game and we have to,play Hill.

Yes for the situation he was in. If it wasn't for teddys mobility there would have been many more sacks. I don't believe Bradford could survive the oline that we had last year and if they don't block well he may end up on the injured reserve as well.

I'll tell you one thing, it sure makes this season much more interesting and hopefully more entertaining.

Oh please, Bradford has had terrible O lines quite often his career, O lines as bad or worse then what Teddy had. (Except he didn't have AD)

I think for every sack Bridge avoided with his legs, he took one due to his lack of decisiveness and holding on to the ball to long, it seems 'He had a bad O line' is becoming a common way to shift blame off Bridgewater and rationalize away the weaker parts of his game in favor of his strengths, but it is getting a bit ridiculous.

Bridgewater isn't the only QB, or only young QB to have a bad O line, but his on field production was still plainly lacking.

If you want your team to win a championship in the NFL, then you have to roll the dice now and then. The Vikings were going to have a mediocre year with Shaun Hill under center (and Hill has fallen to injuries in his career as well). Hill does not have the arm strength to throw the ball down the middle of the field -- and the Vikings were going to see 10 in the box all year. What Bradford does is give the Vikings the long ball that Teddy seemed to have finally mastered in the preseason. Bradford has proved he can throw that pass. Watch some of the Eagles highlights from last year. Bradford can genuinely get the ball down the field. And that is going to make the defenses of teams the Vikings play this year honest. Adrian Peterson and company are going to benefit from this.

Yeah the price was high to get a quality player (a QB at that) at the last minute -- but the Vikings have built the foundation of a competitive team for years to come. If they wanted to contend for a championship this year, they had to make this move. They WANT TO WIN -- and that's refreshing. And if the Eagles can get back the first round pick they gave away in 2016 to draft Carson Wentz, maybe the Vikings can pull off the same trick next Spring somehow. Spielman has done an excellent job so far on draft days. Come on! It's only two early draft picks in two different years... And the Vikes still have a ton of late rounders in 2017. We will be OK.

And one last observation... No one is immuned from injury in the NFL. It's part of the game. If Bradford is unlucky enough to be injured, well, we can add it to the jaw dropping bad fortune of Teddy tearing his ACL and dislocating his knee simply by dropping back to make an uncontested pass in practice. No one saw that coming. Nobody. Can't do anything about it.


Who knows? Maybe next year we will be arguing about whether Teddy should replace Bradford after Bradford wins a Superbowl for the Vikings. I look forward to a controversy like that... Or at least I can dream. Before today, there was no dream.

If Bradford did win the SB, there would be no controversy. He would be your guy.

I have a feeling Bridgewater is going to be getting the raw end of the deal here in regards to being the Vikings future, and it won't require a SB to happen.

In other news, 1st round draft pick Christian Ponder is the #3 QB in San Francisco, backing up Gabbert and Kaepernick.

Not if Bradford sucks or is hurt. And Teddy will be able to come back or he won't. But he will know that Bradford did it -- twice -- and that actually might help him recover. The reality is that The NFL is all about "what have you done for me lately?" I guess we will have to watch the games now to find out...

The vikings had easily the worst oline last year. Our team was run first and yet our QB was still the most pressured in the league and was at the top in being sacked. Having Adrian has not helped teddy in the passing department only in winning games. And yes Bradford has had bad olines and those are the years he has looked bad and has gotten injured. We have seen what Bradford is at his best and its not better than Teddy when he is given adequate protection. I Believe when teddy has protection he is easily a top 15 qb but he rarely gets time and doesn't have monster receivers he could rely on to get open fast.

At least one site rates the Eagles pass blocking below ours last year, and yet Bradford had a better year than Bridgewater. Not a whole lot better, but better. 19 TD vs 14, playing 2 fewer games. Actually that's a good bit better. Teddy ran for a few too, which narrows the gap. But if we extrapolate Bradfords numbers to 16 games it opens up again.

Yes actually Bradford is marginally better than Teddy even when Teddy is given adequate protection. Teddy wasnt a top anything QB. Bradford is average and Teddy has been below average but "shows promise". Advantage: Bradford.
