I've had just about enough of the nfl. Bounty gate, inexcusable hazing, and taking their roid rage off the field. And now, one of my favorite players is no better than all those other ####, so I just want him off the damn team. No way I could ever cheer for him again. We've seen the text messages, the photos, the fact it was a 4 year old and over a petty issue, and Peterson himself has admitted to doing it, pretty much no fact can come out making this excusable.

Time to get rid of him. And don't make it a show like the ravens and dolphin have. Monday morning Rick Spielman just needs to waive his ####, like Childress did with Moss. Meanwhile I'm watching nascar or just fishing and hunting Sunday afternoons. Call me when the Vikings find star players that aren't complete imbeciles!

That's a good point. I'm sure if you did a national poll today of people's reactions to this story, the entire south would probably be like, "What's all the fuss about?". The thing that worries me is that an investigation will reveal that Peterson regularly does this to all his kids, as he visits all his baby mommas scattered around the country. That would be bad. That could possibly be considered a pattern of abuse.

This is a #### 4-year old who got beaten the #### up. This is not a 'cultural difference'. This is completely inexcusable. Why exactly are you defending this?

There's no need to talk down to me. I know what the #### a straw man argument is. I also know what 'cultural differences' are. If you would like to go at length about this, PM me. I'm not going to do it publicly.

The most shocking part of this whole subject lies in the need for defining and explaining some relevant terms/phrases, such as "whoopin," and "go get your own," and "switch." I'm sure everyone has read, and I mean multiple times, "Tom Sawyer," and his buddy "Huck!" It's not just a deep south thing!

I've already accepted that there's a good chance we won't see him play in a Vikings uniform again. I'm okay with it. I have to be.

This morning when I woke up I hoped it was a bad dream, ugh.

Couple of weeks from the 9th anniversary of the Vikings Love Boat incident. Seems so innocuous to what we're talking about today. Ahhh ... the good old days.

Man I love XR and CP84 right now and are my favorite Vikings to watch. Do they have kids or finances yet? Cause I don't know ho much more of this crap I can take before I stop caring all together.

The NFL has a problem to fix because they are the ones who put in the personal conduct policy. If they don't want to be part of the solution then they should not have any say in what a player does while not playing football. They can't have it both ways. The problem here is that the NFL is and always has been reactive rather than proactive in these areas. They are always reacting to something that has happened. Sure they give a little talk to the rookies when they first join but from that point on....nothing. And the NFLPA has a big hand in this as well. They could be doing more to help teach the players. A lot of NFL players come from backgrounds were this type of behavior is accepted. And the NFL and NFLPA know this and yet have done little to address it.

When a player is suspended he can have no contact with the team. Well then the team can have no influence or ability to track whether or not the player is getting the help he needs. This is just patently wrong. Suspend a player and make sure he gets the help he needs. The NFLPA could step up into this as well. As long as there is a Personal conduct policy then they should be made to help the players while they are suspended and not force the players to go it alone.

But Goodell is only interested in the image of the NFL. And that is a direct result of the owners. You want a good upstanding league, learn to take care of the people who are the face of it. Not after something happens, before something happens.

excellent points. the nfl often behaves as a dysfunctional parent. some may suggest that they have no real responsibility...that the individuals are ultimately completely accountable...i disagree.

whipping a 4 year old ? he should have spanked him if anything. still too young 4 years old ? I'm sure his girlfriend did this too get back at him . thought he was smarter though. there goes the Vikings season. was looking forward too it too. I'm so sick of these arrogant nfl players. makes me want to give up on the nfl for awhile.

But without knowing the situation, this seems to be a bit beyond "corporal punishment". You break your neighbors window, that is probably an occasion to give a young 'un a hiding but I'm not so sure about this. Disciplined is needed at times, no doubt about that.
