I really don't like when people say "we aren't winning a Super Bowl this year". Success can happen suddenly (both the 49ers and Seahawks are great examples of this). It would be a shame to suddenly look very good and have to wonder how good we could have been with the best RB in football.

Jerry Jones clearing exactly enough room for Peterson's contract, and then shortly after the draft coming out and saying this?

http://www.dailynorseman.com/2015/4/18/ ... for-adrian
Get their 2016 first, and a player. We aren't getting a ring this year. Does the deal they wanted before this draft change? It shouldn't. We can get a first, and likely a player. Move this guy. The position isn't worth the investment in cap space, specially when you can clear over ten million a year, and get at least a first in return.

Report out of Vikings was a 1st and a corner was the asking price going into the draft.

Again, they redid their cap to make EXACTLY enough room to be able to get Adrian's contract. Do you think that was a coincidence? And after the draft, he comes out with those comments, you don't think it's a possible he goes to Dallas? Not sure what to tell you...especially with Adrian talking to Jerry Jones A YEAR AGO and telling him he wanted to play for the cowboys.
They didn't fight the NFL when they wanted him out. Despite sponsors jumping ship. Peterson isn't that bright. His agent isn't that bright. What do you expect? Look at what's happened with his agent this offseason. Look at Peterson's comments throughout. Make a deal and move him. He isn't winning a super bowl here. The team isn't ready. Get what you can and use the money to address some more significant positions in upcoming seasons.

Again, they redid their cap to make EXACTLY enough room to be able to get Adrian's contract. Do you think that was a coincidence?
It very well could be. Just because of what Jerry has "hinted" means nothing to me. Jerry doesnt have much to offer when it comes to our positions of need outside of an offensive lineman. If there is anything else he wants to offer, I pass. We have NO RUNNING GAME in place behind AP so why on earth would you get rid of him now?? So we can watch McKinnon get hurt lifting a Cheerio and Asiata run for another 3.2 YPC?? Yeah, great plan  . Like I said, our window to trade him was during this years draft. Simply because an extra pick(s) gives us the opportunity to draft a legit RB in this class. We no longer have that opportunity until next year so hold onto the guy.

He isn't giving up $12 million and it's not like he's going to go out there and just not try. So what are we really worried about here?? His crying and whining will soon stop once he gets that pay check in his pocket. You're going to retire and ruin your career because you're mad at us?? Sorry I don't buy it. You'll get over it and put your big boy pants on once you get paid. This is just the media blowing smoke because he isn't going to OTAs.

Right and I agree. Many people act like only truly dominant complete teams win the Super Bowl, and this simply isnt the case, incomplete teams overcoming adversity to win the Super Bowl quite commonplace in todays NFL.

I dont see why one would think the Vikings dont have at least a fighting chance at the Lombardi this year. If you guys hold on to Peterson I actually think you will be a far past formidable foe.

I hope McKinnon and Asiata are in good shape. I dont know if I want AD the ahole playing for us. Ive never been so sick of someone in the NFL in my entire life.

Let's say Peterson plays for the Vikings this year and has a ho hum year stastically for whatever reason(Naging injury, team spreads the ball more, old age.) What happens to him next year ? I think if he wants to make sure he gets paid, now would be the best time to do it.

Lifting a Cheerio and getting hurt :? Man, McKinnon had 34 reps with 225 lbs. at the combine I think you are waaaay of base PHP/Mike, this guy is an animal, strength wise and was a fluke hurting himself IMO and had nothing to do with lifting any brand of breakfast cereal

No matter what he does, he gets the current contract. The Vikings aren't going to redo it after this year. He's playing out his current deal, or not. Which is the fuss. Either way we get him for 3 years at most.

Same as we have been for the last 8 YEARS with him? We have a second year QB, holes on the offensive line, holes at receiver, massive hole at safety. We're in the middle of the rebuild. We have ZERO chance at a super bowl this year. Too much of a talent gap. This isn't the giants with a solid offensive line and defense. Who wants to bet we don't win a super bowl this year? Anyone? Didn't think so. We're at 7 win line. Be realistic...hopefully Spielman is...
Just because of what Jerry has "hinted" means nothing to me.
 Reworking his Qbs deal to open EXACTLY enough cap room to take Peterson, and then coming out and mentioning a star running back by position means nothing to you? That isn't beyond "hinted"? Hinting is saying he'd like to add a good player. Opening up 13M by reworking your star QBs contract, and mentioning a position by name, along with being willing to move your 1st round pick is more than hinting.

But whatever. Went through this same thing with Allen and KWill. And AD last offseason. We aren't going to win a SB. He's going to leave at the first opportunity, and in 3 years I'll be saying I told you so, again. We have the perfect opportunity to make a deal and set ourselves up for a real push in the next few years. And instead we want to keep a disgruntled running back making 13M? No thanks. But he's currently a Viking so SKOOOL can't be stopped! Super Bowl here we come! :wallbang:

Just so you know Demi, I didnt feel like qouting the part you said about the Giants, but the Giants entered the 2011 playoffs with a Defense that was among the worst in the NFL. It is a common misconception though.

And a top 5 passing offense. Top 5 in turnovers. The team hadn't been below .500 in the previous six years. Which is six years more than the current Vikings team has been above .500. They had a veteran team with a veteran offensive line. A coach who had been working with the team for years. They had issues, but they also had things working in their favor that this Vikings team doesn't have.

I think having, what the 11th ranked D in the league, one of the better young QBs in the game (Who in my opinion is going to be a great NFL QB one day.) and getting back one of the best RBs to ever live bodes well for the Vikings, and at first glance I think this is a more visually impressive squad then most people would have considered the G-Men going into 2011, just my opinion though.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told 1500 ESPN this week that he thinks he has an idea when AP might return to Minnesota, but he wasn’t going to share that information.
“I think I do have an indication,” Zimmer told the radio station, noting that he’s not exactly sure on the date. “It’s up to Adrian, really. He’s the guy you should ask… We’d like all our players here. It’s the voluntary time of year right now and it’s his decision in what he wants to do.”

This doesn't deserve to end and AP deserves all the fire he is getting. People seem to forget that nobody made him take a switch to his kid. Then after the team pays him a gigantic sum of money last year while suspended he turns around and pulls this crap about wanting to leave.

I'm mad for the same reason I've been mad through this whole process. When AP's suspension and pissing match with Goodell and League was going on, we the fan base were ultimately the ones who got screwed. Now AP is pulling this quasi hold out crap and again, it is we the fan base who are getting screwed. So I do not care about the NFL being a business or AP needing to protect his livelihood or any of that other crap. At the end of the day, I'm a fan, and right now I (we) am getting screwed by this. My team will have less opportunity to win a championship this year because this clown is being a spoiled brat and not putting the team first. Winning is all I really care about when it comes to the Vikings and this jerk is making it harder to achieve after all the gratitude (and patience) we the fans (and the organization) have shown him. He deserves every iota of ire we direct towards him.

So, yes, I support Spielman in standing firm and sticking it to this guy, at this point he is the only person doing something that actually supports us, the fan base. AP can make this better only by coming out this season, being a team player, and playing hard, reminding us of why we used to love the guy.

Peterson has been screwed over in this whole situation from the start, and Judd Zulgad's recent comments on Purple Podcast are EXACTLY why Peterson SHOULD move on from Minnesota. Its amazing that a beat writer can have such a myopic perspective, be such an obtuse blowhard, and keep his job.

AP got screwed?!?! Really?? He abused a little 5 yr old boy (one of a horde of illegitimate kids he has spawned then deserted), he blithely tells a detective that his is smoking dope, gets paid for a year to sit on his azz, he repetitively gets busted for driving like a mad man thru town at 90 mph, and spends months whining about how mistreated he feels......just another spoiled athlete thug.
