Viking trade for Chris Herndon:
https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1432785044653973517
The #Vikings have solved their TE issue, as they are trading for promising #Jets TE Chris Herndon in exchange for draft pick compensation, sources say. Agent
@malkikawa later confirmed the deal. Herndon steps right in following Irv Smith’s knee injury.
I don't know that I share Rapoport's enthusiasm regarding Herndon, but assuming the compensation is low, it could potentially be a good move. Herndon has never lived up to the hype, but he is athletic, so there is that. He's been on some awful Gase-lead Jets teams with bad QB play, so there is a glimmer of hope there. He is supposedly a very good blocker.

He's has some injury concerns.

Is Conklin even healthy?
"Sometimes you think you feel good and then you want to go out there and test it. So you just don't test," Conklin said. "You take the time that you have to make it feel better, and we'll be all good Week 1." This was from 8/30
Sounds like he's ok.
Sounds like he's iffy to me.

Making this trade leads me to believe that Smith's injury is serious.

Jets get: 2022 4th round pick

Vikings get: Herndon and 2022 6th round pick

Stupid move :wallbang:

I actually agree with you, but if Smith is out for the season than I don't. We had to do something in that case.

I wish Vikings have traded for Zach Ertz, at least he is good but Herndon has not been good for the past 3 years but we will see what happens

Ertz I would have guessed would have cost no more than a 3rd round pick and maybe just a 4th. I don't know if he is actually any good now though.

It's crazy that the Vikings did what they can to minimize injuries during preseason but still managed to get two big injuries that could maybe impact our season. :wallbang:

I went to the NY Post. They called Herndon disappointing. The fan comments were good riddance and they fleeced the Queens.

Yeah, it is a stupid move and it does not really solve the tight end problems if he continues to suck

Everybody and I mean everybody was raving about Irv Smith Jr. this preseason. It sounded like he was going to be a sure fire star.

After hearing the cost, I feel like we overpaid a bit in a panic move, and I agree it does not look good for Irv. I would have preferred Ertz as well, but he is likely on the down side of the hill. I guess time will tell, but I don't have a great feeling about this trade.

Ertz would have cost at least a 2nd round pick.

My speculation is a third round pick at the most. We possibly could have had him for the same price as Herndon, but opted for Herndon feeling that Ertz is washed up.
