After this draft, he's been placed on my foe list tbh. I feel he's being extremely unrealistic and overly pessimistic with his attitudes towards how we drafted and what we actually collected.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 12:19 pmThe guy regarded as the second or third best OL in the draft is garbage collection. Whatever. You'd probably complain if they hung you with a new rope.CharVike wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 3:31 pm
Penei Sewell was the stud but Rick didn't make a move for it. He did his garbage collection. Darrisaw is a step or two behind. There were some 2nd round OTs that match up to our guy. Of course Rick said they were thinking of trading back up but that's a bunch of BS. Rick couldn't get a 2nd rounder which was a must have in this draft and with our teams position. Just like he said round 3 was the prime. He had many picks. If he had 8 5th rounders he would have said round 5 is prime. Round 1 is prime and even that has different prime levels. Pick 1 vs Pick 32 isn't on the same planet.
The simple fact of the matter is the Minnesota Vikings addressed their needs and got the best possible players for each position.
1.) We have a starting-caliber Franchise Left Tackle.
2.) We have a quarterback of the future regardless of what happens with Cousins.
3.) We addressed the Guard position.
4.) We have possibly the greatest potential Kick Returner since Cordarelle Patterson.
5.) Even if WR3 was an actual need, it's not an immediate need and from the looks of it the folks we picked up in the undrafted market have solid potential to be contributors.
We don't need to hit home runs in the draft with every single pick, but if we can get doubles and triples for several of them, then we're golden. Even singles are fine by me and from the looks of it, I don't see any picks in which we'll strike out. Another solid if unspectacular draft for Minnesota, and I'm content with that.
