Honestly, I was thinking of Brown as a LT in terms of this deal and not an RT, but you're right that he's been mostly an RT for the Ravens, although I think he did do well at LT and can play that position.

But that does explain why the Ravens are considering a trade as Brown obviously considers himself a LT and the Ravens don't need a LT.

Even if he were a LT, Trent Williams in a similar situation only got the Redskins a 5th and a future 3rd round pick. Brown is cheaper than Williams was for the upcoming year, but Williams was a proven elite LT. Both are/were essentially one year rentals with the option to buy.

Yeah, I think the Ravens are just trying to get something out of Brown before he walks next year.

Brown is a guy who has played right tackle and made two Pro Bowls in three seasons in the league. When moved over to the left side last year, he earned a PFF grade of 76.5. That's about what Brian O'Neil graded at, and a good 5 points higher than Riley Reiff. He's a top-15 PFF tackle overall, so he'll command some money on the free agent market next year.

A lot is going to depend on Villanueva's visit to the Ravens. If they don't let him leave the building without a contract, then Brown will almost surely get dealt. The Vikings' draft position would be attractive to Baltimore, since they need a true No. 1 receiver and there will be some really good ones available at 14.

Also, drafting this year at 27 wouldn't be bad. If the Vikings took, say, Alex Leatherwood at 27, then 40% of the offensive line from 2020 is replaced with new and better talent. An offensive line of Brown, Leatherwood, Bradbury, Cleveland and O'Neil would look a lot better than anything we've trotted out there in recent years.

I'd just take Darrisaw, Slater or AVT. No thanks for that money.

I'd propose the swap of 1sts, we give up a 4th, and we trade O'neill. The Ravens want a RT? There you go. I don't like giving away future draft picks.

O'neill is an average tackle, he's pretty good in run blocking but not so great at pass protection. I know people will disagree but there's a difference between good and not horrible like our OL interior. He's the latter.

Cleveland is a true tackle and you move him there. Now you have a nucleus of Brown, Bradbury and Cleveland. One guard whether we like it or not will probably be Cole, Udoh or Dozier. That's happening no matter what. The other can hopefully be shored up in the draft.

I'm luke warm on this trade but that's how I'd structure it if I had to make an offer.

I kind of like that thought. Not wild about giving up O'Neill, but if the team believes Brown is their long term fix at LT it would be worth doing. Swapping 1st round picks, a 4th, and O'Neill.

Vikings would need to have some agreement in place with Brown's agent on a long term contract. Would not want to give up assets for a guy who could decide he would rather test the market after this season.

It is a good move for the Chiefs, but I wouldn't have liked it for the Vikings. Looking forward to TB and KC round 2 in the SB.

well, you have to give the Chiefs credit. Their OL was horrid in the superbowl, and they've aggressively addressed the issue this offseason in order to protect their All World QB.

HOLY CRAP talk about over paying for him. I am glad the Vikings didn't give up those many picks for him.

Yeah but their offensive line got better, I wish Vikings did that, I am tired of seeing Vikings offensive line sucking for a decade

I do hope Orlando leaves to screw the Chiefs but I doubt it, they will probably work out an extension before the season starts

They can always franchise him.

Looks like the second to last pick in the 1st for 2 years of Brown and a 2nd.

A good trade for KC who is looking to reload with vets who can contribute right away.

I guarantee a reworked contract was part of the trade. It would be madness to do it any other way.
