A lot. If you want the best out of cousins, he needs clean time in the pocket, nobody around him, no threat of anybody around him while he goes through his progressions. Probably trading for Trent Williams and/or hitting a homerun with a first on OL is going to be absolutely necessary...otherwise they are just throwing away all the money they spent on Kirk Cousins.
With the line we had last year Cousins rated as the 5th best QB in the league. You haters disgust me. I would like him to have a better OL, but it's not like he sucked last year with what we had.

I completely agree with Chicago Purple,We must improve the O line or the money we have in Cousins is a waste. He can do good things if he has time to throw, plus we need to maintain a good running game.
He had the most time to throw of any QB in the NFL last year. How much more does he need?
Dude just stop. We have gone over this time after time but as time passes it’s like you have to re-light the fire. Not just with this but regarding how Thielen got here, teddy vs AP, etc. Like it just doesn’t stop.
I’m sorry but if you somehow think that our OL is good at pass blocking (and I don’t care what you flawed stat says) and that this defense was one of the best under Zimmer, I don’t know what to tell you other than you’re being completely oblivious to this

Right and that’s what I feel like guys miss. Cousins wasn’t pat mahomes, but he definitely played well. The defense took a big step back, the OL wasn’t great by any means, cousins had a few bad games, cook couldn’t get going some games, Thielen was out for a while, coaching was questionable at times, etc. It was a team effort as to why we didn’t get to the SB. For anyone that wants to point it directly or primarily to cousins, simply doesn’t know football

He was not nearly good enough to win a SB with, but he certainly put up good numbers. Which is all that really matters in the end, right? Good stats?
He was plenty good enough to win a super bowl, but our team was a long shot to do so. Trent Dilfer won a super bowl. Cousins is ten times better than Dilfer ever was.

Glad I could 'disgust' you?
He's our QB. He played very well for us two years in a row. Why hate. Yes Vikings fans hating on Cousins does disgust me.

Last season the Vikings finished in a 4 way tie for 5th in the NFL. Not a championship, but a quite good season.

And Cousins still collapses in a heap under even slight pressure. People are allowed to note that and not 'hate' Cousins. Many people have noted it. Its not news.

I appreciate most of your posts, but the way you laid it on so thick about Cousins not being worth $hit unless he has perfect protection on every play sure makes you look like a hater. He was far from getting perfect protection on every play last year and still was the 5th best QB in the league. I'm happy with that. Sure I would like it if he was even better, but Cousins is a huge part of any success we have. He is part of the solution. Not part of the problem.

We obviously have different metrics to measure QB play.

Please drop the "hater" talk. It's counterproductive.
Please don't circumvent board filters so you can swear either.

Thanks.
Pretty sure he meant "money hit" there and missed a space. All the kids are saying it these days.
After a frustrating end to our season, I took a step away from Vikings football and this board. Since FA and draft season are here/ on the horizon, I've decided to reengage. Plus, we are all in need of some distractions and entertainment these days.
With 5 of the top 105 picks, the Vikings are set up to add some fresh young talent. I suspect that they will move up to take OT Tristan Wirfs from Iowa. They have the fire power to do it. The question is will they find a trade partner and how low can they reasonably target him? I'd say around 14-15 would be likely.
At WR, we need to add a couple of guys IMO and the position is fortunately deep this year. I like guys who know how to run routes and who haven't simply excelled at the college level due to speed or physical talent. Those players are usually busts in the NFL, when they are suddenly surrounded by guys just as talented as they are and they lack the ability to use technique to win. So even though I have watched TCU's Jalen Reagor for a few years and think he's a heck of WR, I think he's very behind the curve on football intelligence and route running. He's a freakish athlete though. I'd rather add two WRs in the 2nd to 5th rounds. Hometown hero Tyler Johnson would be a great pick in the 2nd and maybe take a flyer on Peoples-Jones from Michigan, a highly rated HS player who just never found his groove in college. As a UT Longhorn alum, I also watched Duvernay a bit this year, and I think he'd be an intriguing prospect in the 6th or 7th. The guy is built like a RB and apparently isn't good at running routes, but his speed and power are undeniable.
We also need to address CB in the first few rounds, but I haven't scouted the position yet.
