DanAS: I came on here to post my "same old Vikings: find a way to lose" rant but you, sir, captured my feelings exactly. I can't wait to see how we choke next year.....

Let's hope we have the opportunity to choke. Many years, we just stink. When we don't stink, we choke.purplenoway wrote:DanAS: I came on here to post my "same old Vikings: find a way to lose" rant but you, sir, captured my feelings exactly. I can't wait to see how we choke next year.....
Oh right I have only been watching them since 2012, you do know that they have been playing since 1961 right?VikingLord wrote: Seriously? This is what, their first time back in the playoffs since 2012 and yet you hear this almost every season? You must be talking to people who have really low expectations...
And THAT is the perfect tagline as a Viking fan. Nothing is a given with them within a game, let alone a season. Hopefully they will keep getting better and Rick, Norv, and most importantly, Zimmer can continue to build this team for years to come.DanAS wrote:Let's hope we have the opportunity to choke.
DanAS wrote: We are a very well coached team that doesn't make many idiotic mistakes. In that sense, we can't be compared to bunch of teams, the Bengals being one.
But the problem is, no matter how well coached we are and how talented we are ... we always figure out a way .... I've seen it in the 60, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, the 00s ... and now, this decade too. I find it to be excruciating, and I don't believe in "moral victories" in the playoffs.
Yeah, I'm kind of tired of the whole "we're jinxed" manifesto.DK Sweets wrote:Every team that hasn't won a Super Bowl believes their team is cursed. Even some of them that have won the big one (Jets, for instance) feel that way. There's nothing quintessential Vikings about this game, it's just a painful loss.

I've been a fan of this team since 1969, and I've seen plenty of absolutely fantastic moments. We've won 19 division titles and have been to four Super Bowls. I've seen incredible comebacks, such as the Tommy Kramer coming out party when the Vikes overcame a 27-point 4th quarter deficit, or the Miracle at the Met game from 1980, another Kramer classic. There have been SO MANY memorable victories, many in huge games.
It just hasn't happened in a few years.
The Seattle loss sucks. It just does. But it does not, by any stretch of the imagination, represent some kind of curse or jinx. This team has won big games before, and they will again. We have the right man at the helm in Mike Zimmer. This ship is headed in the right direction.
I don't know what more it would take to consider a franchise a bunch of choke artists. The worst part is, this is a new regime with very few players who have been around the team for a while. These guys had the chance to break the old "we can't" and make it "why can't we?". But at the end of the day, they simply added another choke-job to a trophy case that is full of them. This is how mental blocks begin. i thought it would be different. But it never is.Texas Vike wrote:
Who said anything about a curse? or a jinx? I think you're the first one in this thread to use those words.

You're the same poster that didn't know "welcome back Kotter," so you're just too young to know that it is, indeed, vintage Vikings F up when it should be a gimme.
I wish someone with time on their hands would research who has had the most difficult postseason/win and in losses. I simply cannot imagine there has been a worse team than the Vikings. Teams like the lions barely make it. The only ones who may be close could possibly be the Browns and bengals.DK Sweets wrote:
