Jordysghost wrote: What ticky tacky PI or illegal contact are you reffering to? I remember a roughing the passer call that I could have seen gone uncalled, but other then that none of those penalties on that final drive of the first half seemed like there was much room for argument, maybe that PI flag that was picked up for an uncatchable ball.

Mike Zimmer did not allow his team to lose a game, especially one that had clear playoff seeding implications, that is silly.
For the game penalties were 8-110 vikings and 4-19 packers.

Pack got 50 yard PI against Newman on their own 15 on 3rd &15 on the TD drive with under two minutes left in first half. IIRC it was a lousy call at absolute best.

Same drive Barr got whistled for illegal contact on third down.

Two third downs, on one drive, in which the defense forced fourth down.

Also the holding call that was offset by the questionable roughing call on Joseph.

I need to find video because i remember all of them had me throwing possessions at the wall. ( Just bought the TV, last one was death by candlestick)

Im not usually one to "blame" officiating but i remember that drive was awful.

Then AP with the killer turnover.

Past is past, this week is for the division and should be a good one

As far as my theory on Zimmer, some call it silly, some call it GENIUS!!! lol

Team seems to have found another gear starting with the Arizona game, which immediately proceeded the Seattle game, on a short week.

The Neuman PI on Janis was exactly by the books I thought, and the illegal contact could have also been called illegal hands to the face, I agree they came at opportune times, but hell thats pretty much the only reason we put Janis on the field, to run a fly route and draw PI. I do agree, I could have seen the roughing the passer having not been called.

I don't really think commiting more penalties then the other team is evidence of referential bias, I mean, Ive seen my team finish top 10 in penalties on the season more then a couple times, but that is jmo.

Yea, that AP turnover was a turning point, up until that point it seemed like you guys were seizing a good amount of the momentum.

Gosh do I want to win this game!!! I think it all comes down to the refs. Are they gonna call back every good play we make on a penalty as they usually do? Are they gonna allow their DBs and OL to Hold us all night without a call? Are the refs gonna show favortism to Mr Discount Doublecheck so they sell more TV commercials? They last few years the refs have been KILLING us when we play Greenbay. I just want a fair game where we have a chance. Hardly ANY penalties in the last game and look what happened. I just hope the NFL brass gives us a chance. it will be apparent within the first Quarter if we are getting a fair shake or not

 I seriously don't envision any scenario where you come out of the game without feeling like your team is being screwed over.

Maybe so, but there is always a chance we may just have differing opinions and it has little to do with our respective fandoms.

Yea, Aikman and Buck grate on my nerves as well, especially the former. Im a huge fan of Al Micheals and Cris Collingsworth so im excited for sure.

Well, as long as I can remember, the Favre/Rodgers era has meant the Packers get very favorable reffing at Lambeau. I don't see how a long term fan would not recognize this. It's part of home team advantage, consciously or unconsciously, for refs to give the home teams a little "home cooking," but it looks Lambeau is a five course meal for the Packers.

I have known Packers players to complain to me that Aikman and Buck are biased against Rodgers.

My parents told me that before the Arizona game.

It just goes to show the difference in perspectives.

Ugh. People are whining abut the officiating before the game has even begun....

Maybe this will help turn the discussion back to the teams and the matchups:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/ ... -nfc-north
In a world of ubiquitous preseason predictions, Brian Billick managed to pull off an original this summer. Billick, the Super Bowl-winning coach turned NFL Network analyst and occasional Twitter provocateur, projected the Minnesota Vikings to win the NFC North over the heavily-favored Green Bay Packers.

What once seemed an attempt to provoke the masses now has a genuine chance to be the prediction of the year. Both teams have secured playoff berths, but a Vikings victory Sunday night at Lambeau Field would end the Packers' four-year reign as division champions.

That possibility raises the question: Are the Vikings close to passing the Packers on a more permanent basis? Or have they capitalized on a uniquely down season in Green Bay to make it even this close?

I circled back with Billick this week to pick his brain on both this matchup and the longer horizon of the division. His assessment of the rosters gives the Vikings an advantage in most every area, but the continued presence of quarterback Aaron Rodgers in his prime caused Billick -- fairly -- to stop short of removing the Packers' crown.

Honestly, more recent Aikman has been far more harsh toward the Packers, even I have noticed it. Buck still slobbers all over them though.

As for the calls, I do remember the alluded to above drive being particularly bad, I feel like any one of those three penalties would have normally been overlooked or not called. That said, I can remember a few times during the Packers games where we have committed fouls (usually back blocks and such) on a long run by AP or Patterson and I have been amazed no flags were tossed.

Every team gets breaks with the refs. I will agree though, Green Bay gets more at home than not. That said, that is part of why we play games both home and away evenly and teams fight for home field advantage for the playoffs.

Hey, not to toot my own horn. Well yes I am. I predicted that when the Schedule came out the final game would be for the Division Title. Many Packer fans on their forums scoffed at the idea.
