Because if he was like 2, then that's pretty damn brutal. Definitely matters. I can see this being just your typical southern discipline or maybe he went way over board...If the kid was 2 or 3 then that just wouldn't be right no matter what.

I just wonder what the evidence shows. There's punishment and then there's beating. If this is of the punishment variety then, whatever. Kids need them whoopin's sometimes...If it's a brutal-type beating...Not good.

I understand what you're getting at, but at what point is it OK to hit a child? I suppose the conversation could be around "is spanking wrong?" Is that assault? The age of the child and the method of "discipline" does seem to be an issue, though it's a weird thing to think about. Is doing something to a 5-year old wrong but doing the same thing to a 15 year-old OK? The 15 year-old is bigger, so there's potentially less damage and so it's OK? Or should it be the severity of the injury no matter the age? This is going to be messy. I can't imagine the team/league allows him to play on Sunday.

This sounds pretty bad, if the woman was concerned enough to take him to the doctor and the doctor thought it was bad enough to turn him in, I don't like it. Even if he doesn't get an NFL suspension changes my opinion of AD a lot, I knew the guy was a scoundrel having multiple kids with different woman, the speeding tickets, etc but this goes beyond the normal of what's acceptable.

Again, let's wait for the facts.
