Just repeating some fan speculation. Looks like the CBS thing didn't turn out to be what CBS said.

Goodell denies knowledge of tape, says nobody "to my knowledge" saw tape. Sounds like lawyerese b.s. speak to me.

Makes no sense to cover it up. Twould be quite stupid actually. But it is puzzling how they(nfl) never saw it til now.

I feel very bad for those two to have that awful moment broadcast all over the internet. It is nearly as heinous in intent as the actual act of violence was....maybe even more so, assuming that both of them were probably liquored up from the look of things.

If the media source (TMZ?) had any real integrity they could have contacted Gooddell or whoever and viewed it privately, with the caveat that if Ray Rice didn't receive extreme punishment, the contents of the video would be transcribed/written for the public. But to just plaster it on the web for everyone to see is completely classless and completely void of any journalistic integrity IMO.

 Seems to me what they did was what journalism should be.

Not deciding what and how much should be reported...

Integrity in the same paragraph suggesting black mail.

I don't think you can call something blackmail when you are not gaining anything out of the situation. If TMZ called Ray Rice and said gimme money or I'm airing this footage...then you got blackmail.

As for the the rest of your opinion/comment it sounds like you are being disagreeable just to be disagreeable. I happen to agree with the lady who got punched out about having the incident made public. It's like getting punched again....probably way worse.

Great for the cynics though...right?

I avoided following the details of this case except for the headlines. I couldn't believe the video was made public and resolved to view it. After reading Whitlock's piece and now Kluwe's, I have to believe this is a coverup in the same vein as the PSU mess. I can't believe the higher ups in this situation handled this whole thing with such profound stupidity.

What a bunch of crap.

I need to redact my journalistic integrity opinion as it seems TMZ may have only done what was necessary. Goodell has to go IMO. Even if it's true that he never saw the vid, the investigative incompetance alone should be enough of a reason for him to go.

So many things wrong with all of this, but the thing that really rubs me the wrong way is the NFL deciding to increase the penalty only after the video became public. How did that change anything? Sure, seeing the actual footage makes it even more ugly, but the NFL KNEW HE HIT HER even before this footage leaked. It didn't actually reveal any new information, the league knew he hit her.

Hmm I heard she spat in his face. Doesn't matter though, the NFL, Goodell, and Rice should all get a stiff fine and a few more firings. Donate the money to battered women shelters.

The NFLs answer to this issue is all wrong. It should go like this.

1. When a player has been arrested and or charged with domestic violence, he will be suspended with pay until the situation is resolved.

2. If convicted, plea bargained or PTI is involved a mandatory game suspension without pay will be put in place. Min of 6 games. Any games missed during phase 1 will not count for games missed during phase 2.

I do believe that is what the Vikings did with Cook.

Oh man. If it turns out he saw this in April and lied about it for months, he's through.

No Fun League is over maybe?
