I didn't here the extra words but it sounded like Ditka said Zimmer is a great coach, and the Vikings
are for real, and some teams are going to find that out the hard way..

Much to do about nothing IMO, why even bring it up?
What did he do with the Jets? As their featured back. First year pretty good and second year a flop. He would not have sniffed the ball playing behind AD. Different coaches and a whole different time.
Your missing the entire point. Respect and a good reputation matters very very much..
Look at how many Free Agent secondary players wanted to sign in NE and Denver last season.
We got one great season out of Farve in 2009. Maybe if we would have signed a defensive
free agent or two due to being a great team we would have won the Superbowl instead of
the Saints. I know Childress and company should have pulled AP early in the season and
made him focus on fumbles(well the team overall). Tomilison was just one example of
this through the years with the Vikings.

I agree that I haven't seen much buzz about the Vikings' impressive victory, and I, personally, am becoming more optimistic about the Vikes' immediate future with each game (including going undefeated in the preseason), but the Vikings didn't exactly dominate the Rams statistically, and, but for a couple of key stats, the game could have been a lot closer:

....................................Vikes....................Rams
1st Downs..........................18......................15
3rd-Down Conversions.......3-12...................4-14
Time Of Pos...................28:17..................31:43
Total Net Yards.................345....................318
Total Plays.........................57.....................63
Net Yards Passing..............160....................246
Comp.-Att.....................17-25.................24-36
Yards Per Pass...................6.2....................6.0

The real keys to the game were:
Net Yards Rushing..............185.....................72
Avg. Per Rush....................6.0....................3.3
Sacked-Yards Lost...........1-10...................5-27
Had Intercepted..................0........................2
Touchdowns.......................4........................0 :D

I understand your point, ChicagoViking, but looking at the game statistically can be misleading. A lot of their time of possession and yardage came at the end of the game because it didn't matter how many yards they got, and it didn't matter who ran the time off the clock. All we cared about was that the time ran out with us still on top.

I feel like a better argument could be made for how close the first half was. We just happened to have momentum in the second half and everything went our way.

While that makes it looks like it was close. Anyone who watched the game would tell you different.

To be fair, like I mentioned above, it really was close until we got to frustrate their 3rd string QB.

I did watch the game, and, while the Vikings definitely looked like the better team, it could just as easily have been a 24-19 game but for the interceptions and missed field goal. My only point is that I wouldn't pin too many hopes on the outcome of this one game. I'm at about a 6.7 on the giddiness scale right now based on preseason performance and the Rams game: in other words, I am cautiously optimistic about the season. Had the Vikings outgained the Rams 445-214 and posted the same score, I think I might be somewhere in the 8.0 giddiness range.
