"Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason

Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
I would LOVE if the draft played out like this. Our team would instantly be back in contention even without any possible FA signings. Wow, that'd be awesome!

I agree, they worry me too but at the same time...there is going to be so many top players at other positions too. I wouldn't be surprised if teams waited and in turn, Spielman jumps the gun and gets in front of all of them by trading back into the end of the firstvikeinmontana wrote:very cool post. I'm just worried that with Houston, Cleveland, Oakland, and Jacksonville all needing qb's and all drafting before us that more might be gone early than you think. love the read however.

Manziel won't last that long on the boards. There's a very good chance he may go to either Houston, Jacksonville or Cleveland. They all need a QB. Our only chance is to hope we can trade up and get the Rams #2 spot and get whoever the Texans don't pick between Bridgewater and Manziel.
Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
It will be interesting on how the QB position plays out. There is depth but I really hope we have a plan and get "our guy" whoever that is...as apposed to panic and just take whoever (like we did in 2011). One thing I will say is I sure hope we don't select Carr. Did you see him in the Las Vegas Bowl....terrible!
Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
Never been in favor of relatives employed by the same organization. so I'm not liking your thought of both Zimmers working for the Vikings. I do like your head coach pick though. Just don't like the idea of his kid working with him.
Also, there is a long way to go before the draft. one thing for sure.....the media hype machine will play tricks on these GM's minds and if 2 QB's come off the boards in the first 5 picks there will likely be a panic among the remaining pickers. My guess is that there will be a run on QB's and some reaching will happen with the remaining QB's

I would love to do that as well but at the same time....look how Washington ended up. We might be forced to give up even more than Washington did. Washington was sitting at #6 when they made the trade. We are at #8. We would have to give up the farm in order to land the #2 pick. I think we're better off staying patient.King James wrote:Manziel won't last that long on the boards. There's a very good chance he may go to either Houston, Jacksonville or Cleveland. I really don't think QB's will fly off the boards like everyone thinks. Analysts have recently said that they don't think Bortles will go until the early 2nd, Bridgewater won't be the first pick, Manziel could fall further than many think, etc. This is coming from Polian and McShay as well who are pretty reliable sources. Poilian was a 6 time GM of the year. He just continues to say that none of these QB's "WOW" him. Their current top 5 on their big boards are: Clowney, Barr, Matthews, Watkins, and Mack. I truly believe that the QB that we want might just fall right on our lap.

Nice job! I can see you put a lot of time into this. I would love it if we could pull of Nix and Manziel. Zimmer is definitely my favorite candidate. Hopefully all of this happens.

As for Zimmer, one reason I like him so much is because of his intensity and aggressive defense. He is also known to have solid LB's and I think by us signing Vincent Rey and drafting an animal in Telvin Smith, you will see this LB corps improve dramatically. Zimmer seems like that "I don't take crap from nobody" type guys.
Vontaze Burfict who was a legitimate idiot/thug coming out of Arizona St. went undrafted after being projected to go in the 1st round. Zimmer took him in and he is one of the top 5 LB's in the NFL right now and currently leads the NFL in tackles. Burfict said he told his mother that he was legitimately scared of Mike Zimmer....you don't see that often

If Spielman walks out of this draft with 2 first rd picks again and one of them is Manziel in the mid to low 20's, then somebody needs to go to his house and free the Leprechauns he's holding hostage.

Hey PHP, what a fun read! Thanks for all the hard work. One of the coolest mocks I've ever seen. I enjoyed the heck out of seeing all your selections and would love to see most all of them come true. Who knows? They just might!
Regarding the draft, people may say they know when Manziel is getting picked, but truth be told, no one knows a thing until the pick happens. Every draft has its surprises.

Just want to give you props for the excellent post Pondering.
As for Manziel, he'll be gone in the 1st 5 picks. I think Bridgewater will go first, followed by Blaine Gabbert, err..., I mean, Blake Bortles, and then Manziel's name is going to get called. If the Vikes want Manziel, they're going to have to pony up and get up to either Oakland's spot or Cleveland's spot. Spielman should just put a standing offer out to both if he feels Manziel is worth it. Trade 1sts this year, the early 3rd this year, and next year's 1st for the right to move up 3-4 spots to get the franchise QB. Steep price to pay, but it's a deal either should be willing to do, and Manziel is worth it IMHO.

Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
As I asked when you made your other thread named this, when has Spielman ever owned a draft? How many talented players do we have because of Spilemans drafting history? You seriously don't think he shares some of the blame for the shape this team is in?
And thank god, but I think JFB will be gone before our 12th pick.

I've explained my thoughts on Spielman in many threads before. I'm not getting into it on here. Thats not what this thread is for. So you can take it to another thread if you really want to.PurpleKoolaid wrote:As I asked when you made your other thread named this, when has Spielman ever owned a draft? Exactly how I feel. I can bet money if I predicted us getting Floyd at 23 last year..everyone would have jumped down my throatlosperros wrote:Regarding the draft, people may say they know when Manziel is getting picked, but truth be told, no one knows a thing until the pick happens. And about any of these picks coming true....I actually had us taking Rhodes and Hodges in last years mock that I did on my last forum!!
