if we lose to the steelers? the steelers will crush us, and they suck so what does that say? we seriously might win 3 games at most this year.

Yeah, I believe the defense is ranked 31, but they are actually playing worse than the stats show. The Browns are the worst offense in the NFL and had score a TOTAL of 16 points in the previous two games. So they quadrupled their average point total against us.PacificNorseWest wrote:I never know where to put anything with so many threads, but did anyone realize the the Vikings have the 7th best scoring offense in the NFL?...It's the defense that is more or less losing these games.
Anywho...I agree with the OP. If the Vikings move on from Ponder, then it does no good to settle on Cassel. Let's see what the kid can do.
Well that's where the commotion for a QB change comes from. Weeden clearly wasn't getting it done but Hoyer came in and made some really nice throws. I'd also argue their coaches took some chances and played looser. They barely ran the ball at all so that was different but they got rid of their running back so that was different. The fake punt and field goal was different, and the QB was different. Josh Gordon, their top WR and a very good player was back from suspension as well so that was different. I wouldn't really even compare the browns week 1-2 to what they did week 3, way too many different factors.maembe wrote: Yeah, I believe the defense is ranked 31, but they are actually playing worse than the stats show. Defense? It's PONDER! 7th highest scoring team in the NFL.PacificNorseWest wrote:I never know where to put anything with so many threads, but did anyone realize the the Vikings have the 7th best scoring offense in the NFL?...It's the defense that is more or less losing these games.

The Vikings are idiots to not think along these lines, this is why I believe we basically have Childress 2.0 here. Boring same, no outside the box thinking. Can't mess with "our guys" head, he may never recover. Frazier actually stated this week, if Cassel starts, they want Ponder back in there asap, to continue his development. Read between those lines, it says, we are sticking with Ponder long term. Time for a house cleaning!maembe wrote:...and skip the backup and go straight to MBT. Cassel will never be a good QB, we know that, so if we're going to give up on Ponder why not at least take a chance on MBT? It seems pointless to coast to a 5-11 finish with a veteran quarterback who we know is nothing more than a career backup. Sure, chances are he won't be any good, but at least we'll be able to see if he has some potential.
I realize that coaches are probably not going to want to stake their jobs on MBT's success, so this is more hypothetical than anything.
