if we lose to the steelers? the steelers will crush us, and they suck so what does that say? we seriously might win 3 games at most this year.

Anywho...I agree with the OP. If the Vikings move on from Ponder, then it does no good to settle on Cassel. Let's see what the kid can do.
Yeah, I believe the defense is ranked 31, but they are actually playing worse than the stats show. The Browns are the worst offense in the NFL and had score a TOTAL of 16 points in the previous two games. So they quadrupled their average point total against us.

Well that's where the commotion for a QB change comes from. Weeden clearly wasn't getting it done but Hoyer came in and made some really nice throws. I'd also argue their coaches took some chances and played looser. They barely ran the ball at all so that was different but they got rid of their running back so that was different. The fake punt and field goal was different, and the QB was different. Josh Gordon, their top WR and a very good player was back from suspension as well so that was different. I wouldn't really even compare the browns week 1-2 to what they did week 3, way too many different factors.

It's one of those things where you get slightly better QB play and the coaches don't play like scared conservative wimps and holy crap you can win on the road and put up some points!

Ponder to me should have improved at least a little ..

Cassel is a stop gap QB from what we have seen from him..

I would say play Cassel for a least a few weeks and offer him the job
if he can get it done.. If not let MBT finish up the mess the season is becoming,
or has become

Defense? It's PONDER! 7th highest scoring team in the NFL.

ONLY TWO RECEIVING TOUCHDOWNS! Tied with Bucs. Jaguars have ONE. Why? Bucs just benched their QB. Jags have worst QB in the NFL. We're next. If Ponder does his damn job we're 2-1. If he's even an AVERAGE quarterback, we're 2-1. Even with this defense. We can make a change at QB..to a better player. We can't do much with our defense...

It seems pointless to coast to a 5-11 finish with a veteran quarterback who we know is nothing more than a career backup. Sure, chances are he won't be any good, but at least we'll be able to see if he has some potential.

I realize that coaches are probably not going to want to stake their jobs on MBT's success, so this is more hypothetical than anything.
The Vikings are idiots to not think along these lines, this is why I believe we basically have Childress 2.0 here. Boring same, no outside the box thinking. Can't mess with "our guys" head, he may never recover. Frazier actually stated this week, if Cassel starts, they want Ponder back in there asap, to continue his development. Read between those lines, it says, we are sticking with Ponder long term. Time for a house cleaning!

I mean a real house cleaning this time! No leaving any diseased residue from any of this or it's past regime. New coaches, new systems, new fresh ideas. Need to stop playing George Halas football in 2013 in domed stadiums. Do it after the Lions game, get the new regime in here asap and let them draft their QB for their system. Wilf has to do this, is he wants to sell ant PSLs.
