Patterson was in for six offensive plays against the Bears.
Six.
That's up 20% from the Lions game.

Frazier said same thing again this week.
I'm assuming someone on his staff that calls plays and decides the personnel didn't get the memo..

It's a simple equation. Patterson is the #4 receiver on the depth chart. (Which, I believe, is an accurate call.) There's just not a lot of playing time for #4 WRs in the NFL unless someone is hurt or gassed, or the team lines up with four WRs. Nobody is hurt, the receivers were anything but gassed, and the Vikings don't run many four WR sets.

LOL!
Yeah we'll see, it seems like there is at least a small something there between Frazier and both of his coordinators actually when it comes to these things. It seems he wants Patterson on the field more but Musgrave won't stop with the 2 TE offense that puts the dangerous Carlson out there.
On the flip side there is talk of players questioning the play calling of the defensive coordinator and Frazier "falling on the sword" saying it's on him. It's strange it has to work this way but maybe we'll see some more "permanent" changes we've been looking for.

Personally
I would like to see us run four sets ..
Wright, Simpson down field full on sprint..
Jennings and Patterson crossing at 12 and 20 yards (Maybe a hook for Jennings )

This Patterson deal is starting to remind me a little bit of how AD was eased into playing time his rookie year. Guy flashes talent but barely sees the field and the fans start grumbling. Who knows, this guy could be a superfreak waiting to explode so it's time to find out.

They ran at least one screen to him vs Bears that picked up 10 yds+ and a first down. That plus the KO return is shades of Harvin and why we hired him. They'll get it right, with more of him as the season progresses. They are pros.

All those Vikings players around each other and no Bears players around. Man. Defend somebody! Anybody!
I never want to see that play again. Pure stupidity. Get that off my screen.

The more I watch that play, the more amazing it is that Cook almost makes the play. No small feat, considering that he was trying to cover two receivers all by himself.

I recall somewhere in the post-game that Harrison Smith admitted that he should have been over to help a lot sooner.

Define "a lot". He was at least five yards away when the reception was made. In the full replay you can see that Smith is preoccupied with positioning Sanford and Robinson prior to the snap. Sanford, especially, looks like he doesn't know where he belongs. Smith took the blame, but it was a case of mass confusion and a horrible defensive call.
Don't know what the Vikings were thinking with Henderson and Sanford crowding the line to fake a blitz. A blitz would have left them even more vulnerable to a pass into the end zone with four receivers in the pattern. Having Sanford deep in coverage instead of dicking around at the line might have made all the difference on that play.

My thoughts exactly. And now we know that the D players were dissatisfied with the defensive play call as well.

We need a new thread or this one should be renamed "Patterson to be more involved vs. Browns". Heck we should just keep updating it until they actually do get him more involved.
