They're also physically very different, so they may fit different needs with their new teams. Baldwin is 6'4", about 230, Jenkins is 6'0", 190.
For sure, it makes sense, if both guys aren't panning out might as well try a new guy, perhaps the system or scheme will do them wonders.

I gotta agree, in the way the Vikes are tracking, to the similarities with the Alex Smith led Niners. The Niners team defense was a couple of steps ahead before Harbaugh gets there and his effort really pulled things together at QB.

Interesting to read Mondry's take. It's a really tough division, probably the toughest IMO. I think Boldin will do wonders for Kaepernick, though. And Kaepernick can really throw the ball too. Once the game slows for him it will be something. Wish he was our guy....since I'm an old UNR fan too.

If I had to pick between he and Wilson regressing or the league catching up to them, I'd bet that Kaepernick has a better year. The NFC West will be a favorite storyline for me this season~

The Star Tribune ran an article about the similarities between the two teams before the Vikes played the 49ers last year.

Don't sleep on the Rams in that division. They played very well against NFC West foes last season and they could surprise people this year.

@Jim

I recall the similarities being talked about last season and how good it looked for the future when we beat them.

One of my closest friends is a Rams fan from the LA days. We talked recently about them and the fact that they had the best record within that division last year. They beat and tied the Niners as well as being responsible for ending Smith's season. If Fisher can get an offense established there I'd expect them to have a big influence out west.

There's a lot of good teams in the league right now. Can't wait til the games start~

Yeah the NFC is going to be insane, 8-9 wins is going to be tough to come by and even the wild card teams will be very good.

I was glad not to see him yet, and no reason to risk him. Does he really need the snaps? He needs to limit the wear and tear more than anything. Hopefully they don't use him much. He can learn what he needs on the practice field and can handle the rest himself. Let the guy rest while he can. He'll be driven into the ground when the time comes.

too bad Spielman didn't have the foresight to draft Kaepernick
