I dont see why not. For one Simpson is not even all that good. He was suppose to be our number #2 but couldn't cut the mustard and will probably lose it to Patterson. Jarius Wright, had a couple of big plays last season but that should not make him comfortable in any way. As far as Im concern, the only WR who should be comfortable right now is Jennings. Everybody else needs to prove themselves. We were 31st in passing and I refuse to put all the blame on Ponder. These WRs didnt do much to help him out. Harvin missed a portion of the season and still ended up with the most receiving yards, sad......
LOL. Right. Webb will outperform Simpson or Wright
Maybe he will be the next Randy Moss!! Or Jerry Rice!!!

Simpson and Wright?? That's not going to happen.
He'll be contending with Greg Childs, Stephen Burton, last year's practice squad guys like LaMark Brown and Chris Summers, and a couple of undrafted free agents like Rodney Smith and Erik Highsmith for the 5th and, possibly, 6th WR spots.
I agree, 0.01% chance he leapfrogs Simpson and Wright.
I'm sure Jennings and Simpson will be our starters to begin with, and then Patterson will quickly get Simpson's starting job once he gets acclimated.
Webb has to hope he can latch on as the 5th WR, which is entirely possible.

I see your point, but at this point I'm assuming Jennings, Patterson, and Wright can afford to feel pretty comfortable. Beyond that--those boys need to get to work. I still believe in Simpson for some odd reason--a lot more than Webb; that's for sure. I hope he proves everyone wrong and turns into a big stud WR. Wishful thinking.
I dont see Simpson as a starter anymore. I think it will be Jennings and Patterson. And then maybe Simpson and Wright. We know Wright isn't going anywhere. Simpson most likely wont go anywhere either. But I still think Webb has a shot, along with Greg Childs and the others. Because Greg Childs was suppose to be our #1 but the injury really hurt his chances. Childs when healthy, has too much talent to be a 5th or 6th. With all of this being said, I don't see Webb making the team. We have too many WRs who I think will have a better chance on making the team than him. But nothing is wrong with giving the man a chance.

And to that I say: make up your mind my man--make up your mind.
A couple of things. First, would he not know the routes already? Don't QB's know the WR's routes. Second, by knowing the routes, all he really has to do is learn to run them properly. Right? Still, I think its a longshot at this point, but I would love to see him do well in the position. What I really want to see is him running through the Packers DB's like Hayward. (5-11, 185 pounds.)
Vikings fan since Nov. 6, 1966. Annoying Packer fans since Nov. 7, 1966
Knowing routes and running them are two completely different things. There are journeyman WRs who've been in the NFL for a decade or more that know all the routes, but aren't good at running them.
He's an athletic monster. I'm intrigued by what he brings to the table.
"The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it." ~Thucydides
IMO he's more suited for defense or RB as far as his skillset goes. Big and fast...other than that what has he got? I guess we'll see. Doesn't make any sense for this team to be seriously experimenting at any position. Either he can play or he can"t.
I love the guy...not sure it's in the cards though.
Randall Cobb has turned into quite a dynamic player after a mixed successful career at Kentucky as a QB, WR and kick returner. Webb has at least as much athletic ability, speed and much more size. I am not predicting that Webb will be as good as Cobb but.....anything seems possible.
Do not mistake KINDNESS for WEAKNESS!

It's all going to depend on how well he can develop his skills. In the NFL, great athletic attributes simply aren't enough because the league is loaded with great athletes.

Yes. To put it bluntly, its going to depend on if he can catch the ball. I really hope he can, because there are a few WRs we have that I don't think have 'it'. And to be honest I wouldn't mind Webb given that shot. But only if he can catch the ball consistently.
