When it came down to it Seahawks > Vikings in terms of 2013 Super Bowl prospectus and he's 36, so who could blame him.
This officially clinches me having to change my avatar though. I keep it for a little while longer in honor of his great Vikes careers. He's easily the top Vikings FA signing of all-time and he's in the Top 3-5 of my all-time personal favorite Vikings.
Wow, you're having to change your signature and avatar during the same offseason!

+1.
He would have been back if it wasn't for their little last-minute surprise. It sucks, but life goes on. It would have been nice to have him for another year or two, but we had to move on sooner or later. Why not sooner? We'll be alright--eventually! I kind of figured we'd lose him, but I was holding on to some hope. That is over now. I'm ready to move on! Guys need to step up! End of story.
love winfield. but the nfl is business. vikes made the best move for them. antoine made the best move for himself. i wish him the best but i'll miss him in purple!
just tuff to see; I really liked Winfield .. I know he was towards the end
.. can't route for the Seachickens though .. I don't Pete Carrol and hate they way they whined
over the years about the superbowl loss and a few others
We play them in Seattle again this year too... sigh

If he truly wanted Winfield back, then he blew it. As soon as he cut him out of nowhere, Winfield was so hurt personally by that blindside without any warning or discussion with Spielman that Winfield signing with any other team was inevitable, even if for less than money than what the Vikings would've offered. Winfield definitely felt spurned and abused and i can't blame him. If Antoine's 2012 was like 2011 than i wouldn't care, but his 2012 was more like 2009 if not better so that sucks. But what's done is done, and hopefully Cook can stay healthy and out of trouble, and we'll pick someone else up for CB depth so our secondary doesn't end up as our "glaring weakness" in 2013. And I'm happy for Winfield that he ended up in Seattle instead of Washington where he'll be part of something special.
If I am not mistaken, hasn't it already been cleared up that discussions had been going on since February and that both parties knew that they weren't even close? I mean I am upset too that he isn't back but all of these rumors that Spielman walked up to Winfield and kidney jabbed him mid squat seem a little over the top.
I think the Seahawks will be this year's bird of doom. The eagles have sunk past the point of anybody giving a damn. They've signed alot of players to help that defense, just like the eagles. I wouldnt be surprised if the new additions dont gel right away or maybe at all causing a sputter in their super bowl hopes. FA winning teams always look good on paper, not always does it actually translate on the field.

It was a business decision, so I'm not mad. We will find a new corner. We got plenty of picks this year. I know we will address the CB position in the draft. Winfield was a good asset to the team but it's time to move on. Can't dwell on his leaving. Time to move forward.
Very sorry to see Winfield go, especially, to Seattle. I, like Winfield, am from Akron, Ohio originally (and as is the state law, I am a Buckeyes fan) so I was thrilled to have a fellow Buckeye with the Vikings -- and above all else -- a quality player. If all things were the same -- meaning the length and amount of the contract -- Winfield may just think this is his last (and better) chance to go for a ring.
Since I never want a team that doesn't have a Super Bowl trophy to get one before the Vikings do, I can't wish him well on that quest. But I wish him well generally. A class act and a great Vikings player.
