I never realized how close AD was to breaking a 90 yard run on that second to last carry. If the SD defender doesn't get a good grip on ADs unifor,m he's gone. That would be about a 350 yard day!
You mean the one that got called for a horse collar, right? It looks like he would have broken that for a TD.

Honestly, my memory is fuzzy, so I'll ask my brothers when I get a chance. But from what I remember he said he ran into him outside of the Met and he smelled of hard alcohol. I do recall that he said he was funny as hell.
I'm not sure if he played that day or if it was a game in which Wade Wilson started. Some posters could probably help here: was there a time when Wilson and Kramer were battling for the position?
Yes, definitely, from about '87 to '89. Kramer suffered a pinched nerve in his neck '87 and was never the same after that. He still had some good games but if I remember correctly, the nerve would cause his shoulder (and arm?) to go numb and it was hard for him to play QB effectively when that happened.

Pfft.. if it was a playoff game against Green Bay, he would have played

Anthony Carter's exploits in the 1987 playoffs, the year the Vikes played Washington in NFCG come to mind. I could not find video, but his punt returns vs the Saints were phenomenal. And he had great catches vs them and the 49ers, in big wins.

Here are some clips... that was a great victory! Nobody thought the Vikes belonged in the playoffs.

This one is hard to beat:

There have been a bunch of great plays by Vikings like Alan Page, Adrian Peterson, Cris Carter, Moss, etc. that I simply loved. That Moss lateral to Williams is probably my favorite Moss moment.
That was mine, also. And I had to listen to it on the radio. I was despondent as an irrational kid - game is over and wondering why I was still listening, than BAM!
The full version is better and is textbook on how a team drives for 80 yds on only two plays with 14 seconds left.

My favorite moment is whenever these guys took the field. I REALLY loved the Purple People Eaters and Fran Tarkenton...

Awesome to see the previous play, which was not quite as miraculous but nearly so and obviously a crucial part of the drive. It reminded me of my ABSOLUTE favorite Burnsie melt down moment, in which he references this play (Squadron right) as it was similar to the one they ran that day.

NOTE! this video is NOT kid or work friendly. But it's one of the funniest Vikings-related videos ever. Burnsie was absolutely hilarious and it's fun to hear him defend his coordinator (Snelker) and mentions all kinds of guys from the time (Hassan, etc.).

all those many blocked punts returned for TDs in the 70s.

It was the one I included in the original post!
Oh well, great minds.... it was such an exciting play and really it was the first chapter of what started to seem like a storybook year.

I honestly remember now that I was thinking way back then, that if we did a flee flicker to get to mid field and then a hail Mary.........completely irrational

This was pretty fun, but I swear one of these times Eddie Murray will miss the FG...

Great call by Paul Allen and great comeback victory by the Vikings. Also an example of just how good Favre is.
