Hey, don't overlook that he is 6-3+ and does not have a noodle arm. That makes him a great QB doesn't itsoflavike wrote:Yes, another QB with lousy accuracy... that's what we need!![]()

Tebow isn't even connected to the Vikes, and he still gets hammered in this forum. Poor guy, some cats never get a break!

Because morons on this board keep trying to justify why he would be a good pickup for the Vikings. I would MUCH rather have Joe Webb as the backup.

Re: Tebow to Vikings?
I bet the forum brother who started this topic doesn't care to be called a moron, nor the Ponder supporters, nor the former Webb supporters, nor the Musgrave supporters, nor the Frazier supporters, nor anyone else. However, show support for any Vikings topic, and someone will consider you a fool. It matters not, we all want the same thing, that first Vikings Super Bowl victory. I hope I see it in during my next 40 years, but the "curse" may prevent it. As to the topic at hand, not many members truly believe in Ponder, myself included, so throwing any idea on the wall and hoping for it to possibly stick will surely continue. Tebow is just one.
Addendum: Believe it or not, after seeing how athletic the young quarterback are I believe Webb has that style of movement, which is basically an NBA point guard who can throw a football, (Wilson, Kapernick, Griffen). After 1 horrible game, nobody who is a Vikes fan believes he has any qb skills. I'd bet coaching and concentration could cultivate more accuracy. Ponder, for some reason, rarely throws downfield. Between the two, I'd have them competing now for the starting job. That is if no other qb is brought into camp.
Addendum II: Did I spell "Kapernic" correctly? I don't care to look it up.

Re: Tebow to Vikings?
I would agree that Tebow is better than Webb, but not by the margin one would hope the backup QB situation would improve. While I don't understand the national fascination with TT, he doesn't inspire hate or anything else from me. I just don't think he's a very effective QB in the long run.Just Me wrote: I would submit Ponder is better than Tebow, but Tebow is better than Webb. So I agree it is a needless media distraction for a pretty marginal gain, but to say it is NO gain is not entirely accurate. The best analogy (as previously posted by another) is that it would be Favre part 2, only without the quarterback skills to go with it. I'm inclined to pass...
I think the Vikes need to aim higher than Tim Tebow, who is kind of like a modern day, God-fearing Bobby Douglass. Not that there is anything wrong with that, except to say I don't think he improves my football team.

Re: Tebow to Vikings?
Tim Tebow style QBs are a dime a dozen. Go to any division 2 or junior college and I'm sure they have one or two run first QBs on their roster, or a WR with a strong arm.
Unless we bring in John Fox as head coach and Mike McCoy as OC, and develop a defense that can handle 9 straight 3 and outs, we won't get any further than this year with Tim Tebow instead.

Re: Tebow to Vikings?
My opinion on the matter is that if you're going to have any type of success with Tebow, you're going to need to develop the "Tebow Offense" (a la Fox in Denver). It should be clear at this point that attempting to force him into a traditional quarterback role is futile. For the record, I think he can succeed under the similar offense used at Florida/Denver but a team would need to be willing to commit to installing that unconventional offense. It's a big risk and not many coaches/GMs have A) an extensive background with that and would B) simultaneously want to take that kind of risk. And they won't (and shouldn't) do that for a backup. There's not enough time to be messing with that custom offense when so much time needs to be devoted to the primary. If you're going to sign Tebow, you go big, risk big, succeed big or fail big.
That said, Ponder is the QB for 2013. There's absolutely no sense (none) in bringing in Tebow in a backup role in an offense that does not have the time and will not/should not cater to him.

Re: Tebow to Vikings?
Honestly, I don't understand the Tebow love. Never will.
If you take away the John 3:16 eyeblack and all the hoopla surrounding his squeaky clean image and just look at him as a quarterback, there is no way he makes an NFL roster.
He "led" the Broncos to the playoffs? Are you kidding me? They got there in spite of him. The Broncos "won" a title in the worst division in football, backing in at 8-8 and losing in Week 17 to the Chiefs. They lost four of their last five games. They scored as many as 20 points four times in Tebow's 13 starts. They "beat" Miami in spite of one of the worst performances by a winning QB in NFL history, all because the Dolphins couldn't cover an onside kick. He completed 46 percent of his passes, had a QBR in the low 70s. Two players on the entire team had as many as 20 receptions. Every game I watched of this team, I kept asking myself, "How are they even in the game?"
And none of this even considers the circus that travels with Tebow.
I guess you all know where I stand.

Re: Tebow to Vikings?
All good points, and I agree. It does beg the question: Given that Webb is worse (Passer Rating) statistically than Tebow, how does Webb make an NFL Roster? It's nearly a rhetorical question, and Webb brings that athletic aspect to the postion which one hopes may translate into a better game later, but I hope for the Viking's sake neither Tebow nor Webb are on the roster for next year...J. I know a lot of Tebow acolytes will scoff at this, but not only is Webb much faster than Tebow, he's also a better passer.

Webb is NOT any better at passing than Tebow and I am not implying Tebow is better than Webb either they are equally inept .J. Kapp 11 wrote: That's a very good question.

Dude, chill. I'm pretty much agreeing with you. Arguing who's the better passer between Tim Tebow and Joe Webb is like arguing who's hotter between Rosanne Barr and Rosie O'Donnell.Lash Man wrote:Webb is NOT any better at passing than Tebow and I am not implying Tebow is better than Webb either they are equally inept .
