They aren't gonna do a full on retractable roof. It'll be similar to the Colts' stadium, where you just open up a little bit if you want.

Wasnt Mark Wilf just on TV saying they are still seriously thinking of retractable roof?

Was he talking about FULL retractable? Semi-retractable is what lucas oil stadium is.

I thought I read somewhere that they wanted to do something where it only just opens up over the field? so the fans arent in the elements but the players are?

Yeah, real #### looking football stadium for the "Vikings".

It could be interpreted as either rolling ocean waves (viking ships) or snow drifts, which is kind of funny considering what snow did to the last stadium, heh. I'm all for them doing something interesting. Have fun with it, don't just make a big oval/box. It
should be a work of art
I wonder if they've considered how that stadium design might create odd light/shadow patterns on the field.

I don't think they care about shadows, as proven by their last two designs which are annoying to watch games on.
(much less hearing announcers talk about how a player lost the ball going from light to shadow...)

Damn! That is sick!

That is everything I hate: trendy, lumpy, pretentious. And someone's third grade idea of what the "future" will look like.
Looks like a giant yeti took a dump.
Actually, it looks like the abandoned Olympic buildings in Beijing.

I honestly think it looks very sleek and modern. But even if part of me doesn't like it, I don't know if I care all that much what it looks like from the outside. I'm not going to be watching the game hovering in a blimp with a telescope. Lucas Oil and Cowboys stadiums are supposedly incredible venues from the inside from a fan perspective. I'm much more interested in seeing those drawings. If there's any way to swing it, I really want to be there for the opening home game. If it's anything like Lucas/Cowboys/Target Field it's going to be an incredible experience.

I don't mind it but it would have been easier to tell what it would truly look like had they put it against a real background instead of some faux HDR/photoshop garbage.

I wouldn't worry about what that concept art looks like:
Winning architect HKS Inc. designed these preliminary schematics of a new Vikings stadium as part of its winning bid. Stadium officials stress a final design will probably look much different.

I still think they should build it in the shape of a huge Viking ship... the sails could be flags, etc., and the inside of the ship would be the field and stuff.
