Or Stoner Jesus Dude Who Still Lives With His Parents?

That kind of too hard?

YES that kind of hard. As for The Girl, she massacred it. Are you kidding me? She does a good job all things considered, but only proves my point. Come On Kapp. You're gonna have to do better then that.

Sorry, but I absolutely have to argue with you on that one. Kirk is reasonably talented, but just run of the mill as far as the thrash genre goes, and there are other guys playing other styles that slay him even more....Andy McKee for example..

Then in thrash, Marty Friedman, Alex Skolnick, Dave Mustaine, Rob Cavestany, lots of guitarists from more obscure bands.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whGfBGoFrO8 <-- probably not the best example, its a solo that blends with the song but doesn't stand well on its own, and its not played particularly well there.

Metallica really isn't that talented at all, Hetfield is the only real talented one, they just were able to write a few songs that were enjoyable to more than just metalheads.

First off, I was just having some fun. You gotta admit, that Stoner Jesus dude is pretty funny!

Second, the reason cover bands don't play Metallica is NOT because it's too hard. It's because they wouldn't get any gigs. Bar owners want bands you can dance to, sing along with and generally have a good time getting sh*t-faced listening to. I respect your love for metal, but it just ain't marketable to the mainstream public. Most people want Freebird when they go out for a good time, not Master Of Puppets.

Look at the video you provided ... the caption has to tell you that the song is Little Wing ... because you sure can't tell by listening.

As to personal taste ...

Most metal simply isn't musical to me. It's filled with unintelligible vocals (probably a good thing ... the lyrics you CAN understand are garbage), constant pounding, no dynamics, no melodic structure ... and solos that are little more than fast riffs piled on top of each other. Speed-metal solos say absolutely nothing musically, except for, "Look how fast I am." As for how "hard" it is, when you break down speed-metal, it's scale work through a high-gain amp. Every college guitar student can do that (so can Stoner Jesus).

So when you say things like "Kirk Hammett is top 10 guitarists of all time" and "don't even try to argue with that statement," you're ALWAYS going to get people like me who argue because, well, thrash basically makes me want to vomit.

And by the way, Phil Keaggy would dust the floor with Kirk Hammett. Not that Keaggy would even care ... mature musicians don't argue about Guitarmageddon crap like who's best. They just appreciate each other's creativity.

How's that? Did I do better?

With all of the concerns I have about the team going forward, Kluwe's punting and our special teams coverage is FAR down the totem pole. In 2009 Kluwe ranked 15th in net punt average (43.9), 17th in number of punts inside the 20 (which is really a dumb stat because we didn't punt as often as many teams). Our punt and kickoff coverage was VASTLY improved from the previous season and I expect us to be even better this season with another year under Murphy and a "kickoff specialist" to help with kickoffs. We also have some pretty good special teamers too.

But, yeah, he sometimes sucks. :D Brett Favre doesn't always complete all his passes either.

well ya, i agree totally. however, being that this thread is about the punter, and someone said this punter sucks, it seemed like a proper place for me to state that our punt coverage isn't the greatest...which occasionally leads people to think poorly of the punter....who of which we're talking about. :D

but i agree, i have many concerens far larger than our punter, but you'd have thought it was crazy if i pointed these out in the midst of a great metalica sucks..no they don't...kluwe sucks..no he doesn't thread.

A little better... :D
Metallica's Lyrics are FAR from Garbage. (at least their earlier stuff) Songs about fallen War Hero's, Cocaine ruling your life till you die, The demise of Human Justice....etc.... I never tried Cocaine like many of my friends because of the song 'Master of Puppets' (that has to count for something??). Metallica's Lyrics are the reason they grew so HUGE in the world of Metal. They spoke directly to the hearts of misguided kids like myself. While many metal bands are nothing more then heavy bubble-gum music, dissing Metallica is fightin words to me. I'm sorry you can't understand what they are saying, I never had any trouble. It's poetry to me. As for who can mop the floor with who.....It's all opinion. Rolling Stone has had kirk as high as number #5 and as low as #23 on the best guitarist list. Of course, they almost always put Hendrix at #1, and always put Eddie VanHalen at the bottom of the list.(and while VanHalen isn't the best band, Eddie is pretty darn amazing) I know more guitarists that question "How the Hell does kirk do that so quick and so precise" and others like yourself who consider him a non-factor. I'm obviously a huge fan. And think he could mop the floor with most anyone. Except maybe Steve Vai (who was Kirk's mentor) and Jimmy when he was sober. (Kirk is still faster) I'll throw Les Paul in for good measure. As for Your cover band explanation.......I'm talking metal cover bands. When I've seen bands attempt to cover Metallica, they always massacre it. Most don't even try. The one Metallica Cover band I've seen in Vegas were ok, but still hacked it up.

Jeez, and all I wanted to do was give Kluwe Props, and once again, an argument. Offseasons are stupid.

Like I say, I respect your opinion about Metallica and Hammett. I just don't share it.

It's great that Master Of Puppets kept you from doing coke. That DOES count for something. I just wonder, with the way Metallica deliver music and lyrics, if many people really get that the song is about cocaine. Or if they do, that cocaine is actually bad. That's really my point with the lyrics. Does the delivery destroy the intent? For me, it does.

I like guitar players who can make melodies and make their instruments sing, almost like they're saying something. Metal guys like Hammett and John Petrucci and the like are too show-offy for me. Look how fast I am. Speed means nothing to me unless it's in the context of a musical statement. I'm talking about guys like Carlos Santana and David Gilmour and Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Page and a whole host of jazz players and (yes) Phil Keaggy (when Hendrix was asked by Johnny Carson how it felt to be the best guitar player in the world, Hendrix replied, "I don't know ... you'd have to ask Phil Keaggy"). For technique, creativity, versatility, endurance, and expression, there's nobody better. He's a freaking savant.

Of course, like you said, it's all a matter of personal taste.

To bring the discussion back to football, yes it's stupid to count punts downed inside the 20 as a stat.
