Here's a hilarious monologue he did on the global warming hoax:

I may be a tofu eating environmentalist, but I sure enjoyed watching the old guy do that bit. Thanks for sharing that.

The global warming hoax bit was hilarious and a great example of his humor. He was pretty good at making light of issues on both, hell all sides of the spectrum.

Posts have been deleted. Someone posting a Carlin routine on global warming does not make it okay to start discussing a highly political issue. Drop it.

What was the kid's show Carlin was in? Was it Thomas the Tank Engine? Or was that Ringo Starr?
Carlin was in one of the shows the youngsters watched here.

It is sort of funny that this is a political issue...but it is.

The beauty of George is that no matter what your politics are, you should be able to appreciate his own political brand of humor. There are not many comics who can make that claim.

From the little exposure I have had to Carlin, it seems to me that he takes his materialist world view to its rational conclussions, whereas, most materialists don't understand the implications of their own beliefs and so exist in what must be a state of constant cognitive dissidence--tending to accept mainstream traditional values while rejecting their underpinnings. Carlin seemed to accept that if what he believed was true, there were no underpinnings at all and that life was ultimately meaningless. I think this freed him from politics as such as cast him more as a general observer, which is why he couldn't be pinned down as left or right and why his jokes were funny, or offensive, to just about everybody. While I disagree with him philosophically, I respect his intellectual honesty and consistency.

I honestly thought he was at his best when skewering the vagaries of the English language.

It was really fun to see the original episode of Saturday Night Live tonight! I was 8 years old when that aired and I believe I saw it live back then. Almost brought a tear to my eye to see all the old SNLers again like that...what a great time!!!!
