But supposedly, they don't care so why spend the picks? ;)
The draft just illustrates my point further. A RB hasn't gone number 1 since 1995,
QBs went number 1 13 times in the past 20.
That illustrates that QBs are highly valued, not that teams don't care about running backs.

A little footnote to the QBs. Since 1995 24 QBs went in one of the top 5 picks of the draft. Of those QBs, only two have won a Super Bowl. Eli and Peyton.

The Rams had Zac Stacy before Gurley, not like they were to old at RB.

The Cowboys already got 3 genuine first round talents out of this draft, if AP signed as well then I'd expect them to make the NFC championship game at an absolute minimum.

edit: actually after giving it some more thought I'd take that trade; we're (hopefully) a team on the rise but we're not going to be a championship level team next year with or without AP, so let's trade him and continue to build on our young talent with an extra first rounder and a whole lot of extra cap space.
I'm not sure why people assume we can't compete for a championship by next year. I think 2016-2018 is the prime window for this team to make a legit run...with Teddy on his rookie deal.

I don't know why people think we can't compete this year. While it is unlikely, you just never know. AP has a good year, BW comes into his own, Patterson becomes the WR we all thought he would be.........I never count my team out until they are out of the playoffs.

I agree, and while I also agree it is very unlikely, I have seen other teams make runs out of nowhere too... look at Peyton's second year. Heck, look at half of Eli's teams... they weren't great, but they played as a team and won some Super Bowls beating arguably better teams than what they were.

Yeah, I think our team is capable enough now with Teddy and AD where if they qualify and get hot in the playoffs they can beat anyone. Heck sometimes it's more about just staying healthy that far down the road.

I dont think theres anyway Rick trades AD. No one gave him what he thought AD was worth. We have one more year with AD, lets hope McKinnon can learn all he can from one of the best backs ever.

One more year? I don't see the thought process here... he's signed for three more years, no? My guess is he'll either pout and be a pain in the backside this season or he'll come back into the Vikings fold and will finish his career with us, playing out his contract. At this point, I'm leaning towards the latter scenario. But I definitely don't think he has just one year left with us. To me, it's 0 or 3.

The Rams oldest RB is 25..Steven Jackson left a while ago. I think it's clear more teams are realizing that rb success is based more on system. Lynch was awful when given the workhorse oppurtunity in Buffalo. DeMarco was averge in Dallas and often injured before they had that Oline. It's not like the league is hurting over rbs not being taken 1st rd. Leveon Bell, Jeremy, HIll, Eddie Lacy, all are doing fine. The glaring talent hasn't been there for awhile until this year and Gurley and Gordon are drafted 1st round. Maybe teams learned from drafting Mccfadden, Trent Richardson, and Ronnie Brown top 5 and setting their franchises back years. What running back has ever single handidly won a superbowl with a bad qb? What running back has last won a superbowl over 30? That's why qbs are drafted first.

As for the McCoy trade, perhaps they knew they were getting DeMarco and knew they needed a middle linebacker? The one with the best grade was Rolando Mcclain. Would you rather have Shady and Mclain or DeMarco and Kiko Alonso (who still has 2 years left on his 4 yr 4 million dollar deal)

I agree. If they Paid Jared $14M and $17M on his final two years here, I can't see why Peterson doesn't retire in purple if he wants to stay.
