Vikes stadium news on the way: when asked whether something is happening on stadium later today, a Dayton spokesperson says "stay tuned".

According to sources, Gov Dayton will NOT select Arden Hills as preferred stadium site.

Sounds like an upset brewing on the #Vikings stadium front. Gov. Dayton sent Zygi Wilf a letter today, plans to back Linden Avenue site.

Linden Avenue sounds like the preferred site, but I'm not sure that means much at this point.

Dayton seemed discouraged by the teams reluctance to announce its contribution plans other than Arden Hills, and by the lack of answers to the other obvious issues with each site.

Dayton says Vikings must contribute $450M for Basilica site and state $395M. I'd love to hear state leaders explicitly state they have some plan to fund this, at any level. We have heard no concrete answer on how state will fund their cut. That must change ASAP.

Peter King of SI repeated today on KFAN that his contact with NFL Leaders and assurances from Minneapolis business community mean this gets done in a month even with the bumps in the road and arguments sure to come day to day. That's encouraging anyway.

Latest on Ramsay County. Unjustifiably on last legs. Who are they kidding. A tax is a tax whether authorized in past or present. And it will take taxes to build it. So Ramsay County is out for no good reason. But it is still out. Go Minneapolis!!!

Sorry I don't fault Dayton for this mess at all. He's the only reason it is even on the agenda for 2012. The state legislature alone killed Ramsay County by refusing to waive the referendum on the sales tax increase.

Quintessential Minnesota politics. Frustrating. Take the best option and throw that baby out with the bathwater.
