Kafta and Hill. We are so set at the backup QB position. If Teddy goes down, we are toast.

Because they're are so many out there that would carry us to the promised land  They are backups in this league for a reason....because they really aren't good.

Vikings also signed DE Caeser Rayford.

Never heard of him but was a veteran combine participant as well and reportedly stood out in defensive line drills. He's a pretty big dude (6'7, 270). He was an undrafted FA that played for the Colts and then the Cowboys actually traded for him in 2013. If he's being traded for, he must have some kind of skill

If last year has taught me anything, its not to underestimate the potential of some of these under the radar signings. Last year, I thought both Tom Johnson, and Charles Johnson signings were hardly worth mentioning. But both turned out to be great contributors, perhaps even more so than guys who got much more attention when they signed, or visited.

Sort of shows you/us that these coaches and Ricky might know a hell of a lot more than us fans :)

Rayford video: decent burst and strong for size/ two sacks VS Giants

Strange video (lot of young kids).. seems to be a quick twitch stronger than he looks guy
sounds like he needs work on skill set but has good natural balance
and ability.

Interesting. Pretty smart of him to find and fill a void like that, although given his education not all that surprising.

That is why i didnt want to see Cassel go. He was good enough to win at least .500 for whatever time period he would play. Enough to keep the team in the playoff hunt until BW could return.

... or they still have to learn or they're playing behind more established QBs, etc.. They are backups for a reason but that reason isn't necessarily because they aren't good, as you imply above. If teams make a real effort to find and develop good backup QBs, they certainly can be good.

Regarding Kafka: as I said above, his upside is somewhat limited but he did some good things at Northwestern. He's a smart, tough player who throws the ball with pretty good touch and has a great attitude. I'd like the Vikes to have a #3 QB with greater upside but Kafka's the type who, with solid coaching, could be a good game manager (in the positive sense).
