My point on this topic is Mond's "people are entitled to their own opinion" statement. Yes, people are entitled to their own opinions but they are not entitled to their own facts. That's the issue. All these guys want to make up or listen to made-up statistics and crap from all corners of the internet. Kirk hasn't even spoken to a doctor about Covid. It is really disappointing that my beloved team is so #### backward. That goes for AT, HS, AB and all others. Its selfish because its not about their health, it's about the health of others. When they go home for the holidays, which elderly family member is going to be infected and possibly die?
I don't know about Mond, but Cousins is so diligent with the protocols that I really doubt he gets COVID. He probably won't come within six feet of any family member so I would consider the chances of him infecting an elderly family member extremely low.

He is adhering to the protocols at work. We do not know in private. Kids go to school. Kids carry crap back home with them. Wives go to the store, wives carry stuff back with them. Its not that simple as protocols.

I'm thinking he's following the protocols everywhere. I'm married with a child. Before the vaccine I followed the protocols reasonably well. I didn't get COVID. It sounds like Cousins has been much more diligent than I was.

Don't hate Cousins. Just want him off the team.
Cousins is getting more grief because he made fun of people wearing masks. He's getting grief because he was quoted "If I die, I die" and then promoted a hospital that would take care of him if he did get covid (which since dropped him from ads). He's getting grief because he was brought to this team to get over the hump, He's getting grief his team has the lowest vaccinated rate in the league.
He's never missed a practice, ever. Now he's missed 5. Doesn't that say something? Maybe he should get vaccinated? No, he'd rather put himself in a plexiglass box. He's Gambling. Gambling Zimmer's job, the team's success. The team invested millions , He has a responsibility to the organization.
Those of us who trust the medical professionals think he should get vaccinated. He doesn't trust the medical professionals, or possibly has religious objections to the vaccine. I don't get why people have religious objections. God does heal and one of his best ways to heal is medical professionals. I actually agree with him that if I die I die. My life isn't that big of a deal. However, I do like living and since I want to live as healthy as possible I got the vaccine.
I do not believe Kirk thinks God doesn't want him to get the vaccine as his religion doesn't prohibit them. Most likely he doesn't trust the people in power at the moment.

I get a basic nondenominational evangelical Christian vibe from him. Do you have the specifics?

I couldn’t care less what Cousins’ motivations are for not getting vaccinated. Just a I don’t expect anyone else to care why I did get vaccinated. I respect his decision, just as I hope others respect mine.
All I care about is the effect of these players not getting vaccinated. If one of them gets COVID and other unvaccinated players come in close contact, we could be without them for a game or games. If it’s bad enough, we could forfeit. No matter what any of us think, that would piss a lot of people off.
And for the record, I don’t think saying an unvaccinated player has put his own decision ahead of the team’s needs is the same as calling that player selfish. It’s simply a statement of fact.
I just retired a couple months ago. I’m called frequently with requests to freelance (I do both writing and video production). I’ve turned all of it down. The priority for me, at least for now, is to relax and enjoy life. Does that make me selfish? No. It’s simply a fact … I choose to chill, not work. That being said, I also understand that the people I turn down generally don’t like my decision. Comes with the territory. Kirk Cousins should expect the same … not everybody is going to like his decision to not get vaccinated.
My problem with Cousins is his blaming the team for not providing a big enough meeting room. Not getting vaccinated is his decision. He should man up and own it.

I don't think Cousins is blaming anybody. He's like you said just stating a fact. If the room had been bigger he wouldn't have been required to miss practice. I am curious about why Cousins has chosen not to get vaccinated. He refuses to share that information.

His comments about mask-wearing say otherwise. I know people who followed the protocols but still got it and died. All it takes is a lapse and that's it.

Quoting my own post. I googled it.
He attends River Valley Church and it's pretty much what I expected. No stated denomination. The Bible is the word of God and salvation is through Christ alone.

His Dad is a preacher and I have read that Kirk is an evangelical. I think him being at peace with death and his belief in where he is going when he does die might have something to do with his lack of fear of the virus, but aside from that, I have never heard any teaching from the Evangelical church that comes close to dissuading people from taking a vaccine.

There are IMO out there sects that pretty much refuse all medical services due to trusting in God alone for their healing. I really doubt that River Valley Church is telling anybody to not get vaccinated. So religious reasons seem to be out.

I think you are correct Stump. I also attend an independent evangelical church and the position of the church is that it’s a personal decision. They don’t encourage or discourage it.

Point taken. You’re right. I guess it just sounded disingenuous. If he really was concerned about following strict protocols, he could have brought up the room size issue before someone in his group got COVID. But I’ll back off that point.
As for his reasoning, he just says it’s a very personal thing. I actually respect that, certainly more than someone who tells me what a gullible fool I am for getting the vaccine.
