Wow,I can't believe your even comparing Gardenhire to Childress...Childress had a better team than Gardenhire does...And Childress has only won 1 playoff game. At least Gardenhire knows how many men to put on the field...

Re: Twins (We'll try it again)
Guardy had plenty of talent this season, enough they should have AT LEAST showed up for the first playoff series. Childress didnt inherit a great team. Guardy and BC have the exact same amount of "game day" smarts. NONE. Guady gets credit for winning with no talent.......how many teams would like to have Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, Cuddeyer, Valencia, Young.............WTF does he need the AL All Star team. No team has a stud at every position. Now its our time wrote:Wow,I can't believe your even comparing Gardenhire to Childress...Childress had a better team than Gardenhire does...And Childress has only won 1 playoff game. How many playoff games has Gardy won? What is his WINNING percentage in the playoffs? Like nagative?
Write it down, and post it everywhere you can: The Twins will not win a World Series with Gardy as the manager. I don't know why people cant understand that. He is good at winning a weak, sorry, pathetic division. At least Childress won a good division twice.

Good for you. I'm not a fan of being wrong, but hey, if you wanna roll that way, that's cool.PurpleMustReign wrote:

Didn't they have another similar situation with a South American player within the last couple years as well? (I think that was a futures contract or some such). Don't follow baseball as closely as football, but wish I could remember his name and keep better track. >_<

Yeah, they did, and he is supposed to be some enormous talent, like this kid. I am hoping these moves pay off for them because they certainly need IF help.Demi wrote: Sweet. Hope something comes of it.

Re: Twins (We'll try it again)
Couple of points;
One, Grats to Gardy he isnt as bad imo as many of you here seem to think I just wish he would not be so focused on the 100 pitch count thing,
Two, Tishyoshu<sic> the guy from Japan, looks exciting. I LOVE the way Ichiro plays the game hopefully this guy is that kind of player,
Third, I am pretty sure you wont see Hudson back with the twins, Punto wont be back for sure and with Hardy being a) a little over rated and b) injury prone , the twins Really need help up the middle I have NO faith in Castilla besides being a back up player.
Finally does anyone know a Twins Message board the quality of this one? I love this site and have come here daily for about 6 years just to read opinions and get information on the Vikes even if I rarely post. I would love a similar site for the Twins.

Re: Twins (We'll try it again)
Hardy got shipped off to Baltimore in exchange for two pitching prospects. On the surface it looks to be a decent deal for the Twins since starting pitching is the glaring problem with this team, but as always there is a big question mark with those guys. It would've been nicer to get a proven pitcher but oh well, at least they're addressing the need somehow.
So now it looks like Casilla and this Nishioka guy will be handling 2B & SS. Nishioka is a big unknown but his numbers in Japan indicate that he's a solid player in all phases of the game, so if Casilla can become more consistent we should be set in the infield for years to come.
Assuming we sign him, will Nishioka be the first Asian player ever for the Twins? I remember this was brought up here earlier this year but I don't think anyone could name a previous player. The Asian players seem to stick to the coastal teams, I assume because they want access to fresh seafood. I hope Nishioka likes walleye

That'd be sweet. I'm glad he stayed here. I hope his second season here doesn't go like Favre's secdond season here...

Re: Twins (We'll try it again)
No kidding. The age coincidence on that is a little weird (Thome turned 40 during last season, Favre turned 40 during '09)PurpleMustReign wrote:

Remember, Ron Gardenhire is still the manager...
