Trent is not going to play for Washington. We may not get him, but the other two suitors are the Jets and the Browns. Rudy could be a starting point. Throw in Efflan and a 7th rounder. I believe Bowhunters friend. I think the discussions are underway. It comes down to how rich the deal would be and whether we could afford him. It would be interesting to know if he’s had any contact with Kirk.
Looking at the three franchises, Cleveland is almost as dysfunctional as Washington and playing in the cold weather. He knows all this. And then you have the jets.....no thanks. A 32 year old all pro wants to win and would relish playing here. The question is does the prospect of playing for the Vikings incentive enough for him to make concessions. He knows Kirk took 6M less to sign with us over the Jets.
Please don’t anyone make comparisons about Cousins salary and being overpaid. Trent is fully aware of everything. He wants a shot at a ring. How much does that figure into the equation. It’s a big factor. We will know soon.
Frozen Rope you are exactly right there Trent Williams is NEVER going to play a down as a Redskin ever again. That relationship has been fractured beyond repair. I know that stuff has been reported about that in the media since last year, but believe me they haven't scratched the surface on his feelings about the Skins organization.
I guarantee you , from my conversations with my friend and his conversations with Wiliams , that Williams just wants to get away from Washington, move on and continue to play. From what I've been told, he has been very intelligent with his earnings , so it's not all about the money for him. The guy just still has confidence in his ability to play at a high level, but has a total distrust of his team , from the front office down to , and especially, the medical staff, who he truly believes put his long term health in jeopardy by bad diagnoses and poor care.
The guy still has the confidence that he can play at a high level, and wants to keep playing , he just has no desire to spend any more time as a Redskin.
I got a text last night that the talks are going on, but it will probably be closer to the draft until the move is finally made. And yes the Vikings are definitely in the mix. Gonna be interesting.
:wallbang: :wallbang: I don't have the patience to wait until the draft. I need closure to this now.

I will admit to you that I HATE IT when players act like jerks or divas to try to force a trade, but in Williams case it looks like he may be justified in his approach. Washington should have traded him last year when they could have received better compensation than they are likely to get now.

Yeah I am right with you. That’s why I wasn’t opposed to trading diggs. I don’t think anything ticks me off more than when players act like that.

But yeah Williams frustration was based off of the cancerous growth he continued to mention to team doctors and they didn’t assess it until 5 years later. It ended up being cancerous and he had it removed but that right there is what put him over the edge with the organization which is completely understandable

I don't like to hear that because it increases the chances they take less to trade him to a team like Cleveland instead of here. If it is personal, they won't trade him somewhere he wants to go.

Yeah similar to what we did with diggs. I’m wondering what Cleveland has on the table. We might have to increase our offer a bit

While it would be satisfying in a perverse way I don't think we traded Diggs to Buffalo out of spite. I believe that was our best offer.

First off let me be the 1st to agree with many of you on the poof how.it just pisses you off when a player suddenly get a very " Inflated ego driven self worth " the wants out if his contract and becomes a bug distraction. Like a certain Diggs character did.
Believe me the situation with trent Willimas is a whole different thing..like someone else alluded to it came from a misdiagnosed cancer tumor and botched care. Without him getting a different opinion and treatment form another staff, it could have proved to be devastating. The worst part was the way the Redskins organization, from the medical staff all the way to the top, basically wouldn't admit their mistake, but tried to turn it around in him.
He simply became disillusioned with the team, lost all faith and respect and at first quietly asked for a trade and a fresh start. They organization is the one that turned it into the media circus. I own they are reneging on a resolution that Trebt thought was going to be honored, hence his very civil press release a few months ago, and they are now basically putting him through the ringer. I won't comment yet in the peronalmstatenents ge has made to a friend, butbthe Skins are doing him.pretty dirty. I have been able to hear a little more coming from the source that most others dont get ti see and hear that leads me to say do not be suprised if he is traded to a lesser team just out of spite and a vendetta on the Redskins part. Hoping I'm wrong Nd zi myself woukd.likenti see him.on.our roster. But the more things zinam hearing I am not holding my breath and as excited as before. I hope I'm wrong , and hope he isnt wearing Cleveland or Miami uniform this season. Just saying

Anyone who tries to leave the Redskins is justified. Hopefully that is going to change now with Riverboat Ron but the "damn fine culture" Bruce Allen talked about was toxic on a level that is hard to describe. Anyone the last two years that could get out, has.

BV, you are dead right. I also know this as a fact. FSL has a post just above which describes the “toxic dumpster fire” culture which permeated the organization. The Redskins weren’t going to let Jirk go with Shanahan at all costs out of spite.
Then they shot themselves by getting nothing for Cousins. Stupidity which defies any logic. Rick will have to be at his best to pull off this deal. TW wants to come here.

And you are absolutely right also. The arrogance of that organization starts right at the top. I really like Rivera. Even though he was a Bear.. Boo!!.. the guys was a bad ####. Also think he is a great coach and by all accounts a great man also. I hate to see him end up there, but maybe he can bring some integrity to the organization.
I tell ya , some of the personal stories I have been told about the way that Snyder was with his man crush on RG3 and the way he treated Cousins, and alot of other stuff, it's pretty easy to root against the guy and realize why his organization is , like said, a dumpster fire.
And yes you are right, Trent definitely wants to be in purple and protecting Cousins back again. I've heard it first hand how much those guys absolutely despised RG3 and the way that they loved playing for Cousins.
I just hope Rick finds a way to get it done. It just sucks that Williams isn't a FA, or I believe he would already be a Vike. The stupid Browns are the team that scares me the most. I would hate to see him punished further by ending up there.

BV I think I can offer a bit of encouragement. If Trent doesn't want to go to the Browns he can pretty much eliminate them or the Dolphins by not being willing to sign an extension. However, that might reflect poorly on him making him look like a diva. At this point I'm hopeful that he will be a Viking if agreeable terms and compensation can be worked out. If not I just hope this situation resolves itself and he goes somewhere he can be happy.
On a separate note I'm not a PC type SJW guy. I don't have a problem with a team being called the Indians, Chiefs, Braves etc......, but when I was 5 years old I already knew that Washington's name was a racial slur and I can't believe they are still maintaining it 56 years later.
