We looked like #### the first half and on fire the second. Must have been an epic #### chewing at halftime....

A message board dedicated to the discussion of Minnesota Viking Football.

I'm sure the coaches had some things to say, but I don't think a team comes back like that without the players stepping up and challenging themselves and their teammates. I've thought the player leadership was lacking on this team for quite a while, but lately I've seen evidence that not just one, but several, players are stepping up on the field and on the sidelines in a leadership role.
Can't say it much better than thatGrashopa wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 2:26 pm I am a positive vikings fan. As long as i have been here there have always been perpetually negative posters. Some have been very opinionated and some have been very statistical and all have seemed overly critical. On the Flip side there have been some that have had a bit too much of the kool aid. Over the years i have at times been annoyed and put off by some of the negative posters but i still appreciate the different perspectives that they brought to the board. They are devils advocates in a way and many detailed and in depth conversations have come as a result of an overly negative or an overly positive outlook. We have all been on the same ride together for differing amounts of times, we all have different personalities, outlooks, environments, upbringings and degrees of fandom. The reason i stuck with this board this whole time is because it wasn't full of a bunch of fan boys and i enjoyed reading the extensively informational threads fostered by the diversity present on this forum.
I have always came here to get the most up to date information on the team instead of going directly to social media, mostly so that i could read the differing opinions of the other members of this forum and see how they aligned with my own. Some posters rely on stats to get their point across, some like to go by the eyes test, some align themselves to specific analysts, but they should still be free to formulate their opinion however they choose and shouldn't need to "prove" there opinion in any way dictated by another poster. Lately i feel there have been too many on either side taking exception to other peoples opinions and too many personal attacks that have made this place not so enjoyable to visit.
A forum is supposed to be a place where people can come and openly express their own opinions, discuss and argue their opinions with others, to vent, to rejoice, to complain and to celebrate. This place needs to get back to being an open forum about the team that we all root for on game day, a place where everyone can share their opinions without scrutiny, a place where peoples right to their own opinion is respected regardless of how positive or negative they are.
All that being said, I feel that we should all agree that after we come from behind in a prime time game and beat one of the best teams in our conference on the road that we will all come here and celebrate together regardless of the circumstances of our victory, regardless of how the performance of a player or unit of players looked and regardless of the stats.
if we lose.... then well ####....
If guys are quiet during wins because they have concerns about this team then I dont know what to tell them. I can name, at a minimum, 3 or more concerns/flaws for every single team in the NFL. No team is perfect. Every team has flaws. That's a poor excuse to not enjoy a win. We're 8-3, so I would say we have a lot less flaws than most of the teams in the league. Which again, is a good thing. Some of you guys are acting like we arent seeing the up and down defense, the shaky OL, the ST flaws, etc. Everyone see's it. We just enjoy when our team gets a win. Not downgrade the win because it was against a 3-6 team, or complain that our QB didnt take a shot on a free play or find ways to say it was a "weak win" and so on. A win is a win and I could care less Cousins didnt take a shot there. I'm guessing he probably takes that shot 95% of the time. Pat Mahomes checked one down last night on a free play, think KC fans are complaining about it? Highly doubtful.VikeFanInEagleLand wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:07 pmGreat post Thaumaturgist. This is why some are "quiet during wins". Because no matter how excited we are that the Vikings are winning, it doesn't mean some of us don't have concerns. I have some, and they are not based on one bad half, or one good half, or even a good game or bad game. I hope they fix what I perceive to be flaws over the bye week and going forward. We can disagree what some of those flaws are, but that's just a difference of opinion. I've talked about what I think those flaws are but for now, I just want to enjoy a great comeback win because that's what it was.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 9:38 am
Nobody is saying we cant question what went wrong. It's just after a win, you dont expect guys to sit in the negative. Some do that. Others are very quiet during wins and are a constant poster during losses. We cant control how people post, but some guys need to just lighten up a bit. We're 8-3, not 3-8. Not even .500. We're 8 and fricken 3. It's depressing coming on here after a win and see guys constantly questioning Cousins still, questioning the team still, etc. At first it was Cousins cant beat a winning team, then he does but the team isnt good enough, then it's well Cousins might have beat a winning team but he cant win in primetime, then he does, then it's Cousins cant comeback from a large deficit, then he does and so on. Like what's next, Cousins cant win a playoff game? Then a SB? I'm giggling my ti#s off because this guy is continuing to prove the media wrong, fans wrong, etc. And right when he does prove people wrong, they go into defense mode trying to say how it practically doesnt count. This TEAM is continuing to prove people wrong. Yeah we have our weak areas but they are fighters and battle tested. That's what you want going into the playoffs.
Like the board is just as depressing as it was at the end of last season. Of course we as Viking fans have gone through heartbreak but when the team is rolling, the team is rolling. Be happy, be excited for what's next. Kirk Cousins has given the haters 0 leg to stand on anymore, this team has given the doubters 0 leg to stand on anymore. This is a good team and one of the most dangerous teams in the NFC right now because Cook can beat you, Cousins can beat you, the WRs can beat you, the TEs can beat you, if the defense gets their head out of their as# they can beat you. I see little reason to be negative right now. Everything is open to criticism but it's still occurring far too often and it seems like some fans cant find a way to be happy and just flat out enjoy being miserable on here. Or they go into hiding when they have little negativity to contribute because they know they have no leg to stand on. We're all rooting for the same thing here guys.
It was nice to see them go no huddle from the start of the 2nd half. To be fair tho, Flip never had a healthy Cook which makes everything work for this offense. Even when Cook was shutdown for the most part, the threat for a home run on any snap is still there, that's why PA is working so well. They have to respect the run.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 9:02 am This is one thing I have stressed on here is how Stefanski/Kubiak ADJUST. This is something Flip never did. Instead he panicked and went pass happy 99% of the time. Stefanski/Kubiak do a great job finding ways to keep a defense on their toes. And if something isnt working, they move on from it. From week 5 on, they have been unbelievable. Far better than the joke we had last year
People have different ways of enjoying a win. Just because we vent concerns at the end of a win doesn't mean we're not enjoying it. It's also fine to be cautious right now even at 8-3. The similar feeling we had back in 98, 2009, 2017. Some don't want to get burned again. Everyone has a reason to feel what they feel. Doesn't mean it's wrong.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 3:29 pm If guys are quiet during wins because they have concerns about this team then I dont know what to tell them. Not true. We come here for many reasons. To vent, to hear other people's view, to celebrate together. And this board always had negative posters. Demi was one that was always negative, but i respected his views, and he respected other opinions. The difference now is people make it personal and attack each other.Again, fans come on here to enjoy a win and discuss the game with fellow fans. Not hop into a thread to see complaining after wins. I'm not just talking this game, it's every week. This board was never like that before. I dont remember opening threads in 2015 or 2017 and seeing guys complaining after a win. Is it because 2015 and 2017 our expectations were lower and now they are higher? I have no idea. But it's frustrating to see and I know I'm not the only one that thinks that.
I think there was plenty of personal criticism before, too, but the main targets of it (of which Demi was one) usually didn't take the bait and stayed on topic. Plus, a lot of inflammatory posters and posts seemed to be quickly removed when they crossed the line. It seems that more is being allowed now that in the past would have earned a quick ban. That could just be my impression, though.808vikingsfan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 3:50 pmNot true. We come here for many reasons. To vent, to hear other people's view, to celebrate together. It's ok to disagree. Everyone is going thru different "stuff" in life right now. Be nice.
My two cents.
The Patriots are pretty close to perfect. They'll lose a few each year. And probably make the Super Bowl with a bye and home field. I think expectations have a lot to do with it. Were not a door mat. The Bronco game was a good win. All wins are good. But that was a tough one on all fans. I expected us to have an easier time. Not 40-0 But a 24-10 type win. Especially at home. And regardless of the thoughts that they are a tough team they are not that. Again expectations are different now. That is the reason.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 3:29 pmIf guys are quiet during wins because they have concerns about this team then I dont know what to tell them. The Patriots have had one of the easiest schedules I can remember and play in what has to be one of the worst overall divisions. They're good, but the lack of substantial challenge is making them look a lot better than they are, and I think in the rare games they've played against good competition that has been obvious.CharVike wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 3:27 pm The Patriots are pretty close to perfect. I mentioned the same thing on this board and was told they still need to win. I can't remember the last decent QB from that division. It's a cake walk. Plus they can rest the team. Bill B can develop young players during the season. That's a huge break for them. Hit Brady hard and he will pack it in. Last week the Eagles hit him a few times not even hard and I thought he was going to cry. But these AFCE teams don't even put a rush on him.VikingLord wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 6:05 pmThe Patriots have had one of the easiest schedules I can remember and play in what has to be one of the worst overall divisions. Except they've won those six Super Bowl and made 10 Super Bowl appearances under B&B. There IS that. But where you ARE right is that their easy division gives them a leg up on gaining home-field advantage in the playoffs, and it's nearly impossible to beat New England in Foxboro in December and January.VikingLord wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 6:05 pmThe Patriots have had one of the easiest schedules I can remember and play in what has to be one of the worst overall divisions.
