I have two boys who are now 16 and 13 years old. The thought of whipping them when they were only 4 years old (just out of toddler stage) with a stick that left welts is totally fuched up. 4 YEARS OLD????????????VikingsFanInCA wrote: Do you have children?
Edit: I'm actually gonna ask this of everyone putting their two cents in on this. For the record I personally have 2 children. I am curious if people 'outraged' at this stuff even have kids - guessing they don't.

I have 2 kids. Both in elementary school. I've spanked them with my hand. I was also disciplined when I was younger as mentioned above. 4 years old is too young IMO and he took it too far. Couple lashes and we probably never would have heard about it, looks like he went overboard there.VikingsFanInCA wrote: Edit: I'm actually gonna ask this of everyone putting their two cents in on this. Ha! Lets see if you still feel the same way the next time you need medical treatment lol.fiestavike wrote:Me personally, I'd rather be living 50 or 100 years ago than today, although those times still had their problems, I see things are worse now as a whole.

Very impressed with the way you handled that. Kudos. I edited mine as well.BGM wrote: Point taken. Post edited.

I am both a parent and a pediatrician. For what thats worth.....and a 40 yr viking fan. I am disgusted by AP. He whipped a 4 yr old little boy so hard that he caused LACERATIONS through his skin!!!! This was not a little spanking. That is child abuse. Its sick. If he stays on the team, and this is true.... I am done. No 4 yr old child deserves to be cut up.

Does anyone feel like all the progress our team has made is gone

How thick it is is meaningless. I have seen kids nearly skinned alive by a whipping with a thin wire. If you think this crime is a "slight thing" Purple Jesus, let me lacerate YOUR #### n scrotum with a stick then tell us how slight it is

Wait, the team knew about this in May? This wasn't some Thursday morning mind-blower this week? They've know about it for 4 months?
We're going from bad to worse. Next thing you know you it, Frazier's gonna be at the scene helping Adrian pick out a nice "whoopin' stick."

Well, it's just a ridiculous assertion by Purplehaze. I almost don't want to gratify it with the statement that, of course, I had two kids, and never considered any kind of physical punishment until my kids were into double digits.Crax wrote: I have 2 kids. And punishment was never done in anger. Don't know about Adrian - just speaking in general. You don't teach kids to be violent when angry.
As far as corporal punishment goes, you want them to feel it. You can't want to leave a scar. For me, Peterson was clearly in the wrong. Whether it rises to the level of some sort of criminality... well, let's just let the justice system work it's way through that. It may not be a perfect system, but we've all agreed by the social contract to abide by it.

OK, looks like we need some Legal Stuff 101 here.CP84 wrote: There's no pictures or anything with anything to do on his face and adrian already admitted that to the first judge who dismissed it
It wasn't a JUDGE. It was a grand jury. There are no judges in grand juries -- hell, there aren't even attorneys except for the prosecutor. And the purpose isn't to determine guilt or innocence. It's not a trial. It's a procedure to determine whether there's enough evidence to bring charges. The first grand jury did NOT exonerate AP. It only rendered a "no bill," which means they didn't believe -- at that time -- there was enough evidence of probable cause to indict. Prosecutors are free to go back to the grand jury as many times as they want in order to secure an indictment.
Just as the first grand jury bringing a no bill does not mean AP is innocent, the second grand jury's indictment does not mean he's guilty. But it does mean that he will be arrested.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Re: Adrian Peterson Indicted for Child Abuse
Haven't read the whole thread as I am sick of it all. Story broke while I was in the car, so I listened to a lot of KFan and ESPN for a few hours. Watched a little Sportscenter and NFL Network and saw the pics on TMZ.
IMO, and this is just my opinion and people can have there's but Adrian crossed the line big time.
Let this sink in. A 200 plus pound professional football player used a switch on a 4 year old, yes a 4 year old, until he was bruised and bleeding. What in the hell could a 4 year old do to deserve that?
My opinion, and it might might change later, but as of right now AP is a big pile of sh!t in my book. I wouldn't even care if I woke up tommorow and the Vikings cut him and moved on.
This is just sick. I don't care if it was done to Adrain yes a kid or not, it is totally wrong and unacceptable in my book.
Add in the fact his 2 year old kid was murdered, via child abuse nonetheless, 6 months earlier than when this reportedly happened and this is the sickest thing I have witnessed as a Vikings fan.
Makes me want to puke.

Re: Adrian Peterson Indicted for Child Abuse
This is more disturbing to me than the Adrian Peterson story. I take Adrian at his word that he wasn't trying to injure the child. But PMR wants to congratulate him for a job well done! Try reading the rest of the bible for some inspiration on how to treat children.PurpleMustReign wrote:Kudos to AD for diciplining his kid. If i saw him in person right now, i would shake his hand. I am proud of him for trying to make his child a better one.
Welcome to my foe list.

I did not make that ridiculous assertion. Crax incorrectly quoted me. VikingsFanInCA made the comment. Go back and check for the record fyi.John_Viveiros wrote: Well, it's just a ridiculous assertion by Purplehaze.
