I agree 100%. I've always said, if Spielman wasn't our GM....there would be a VERY good chance that we wouldn't have 3 KEY players on this team (Smith, Patterson, and Rhodes). Those were all great trades made by Spielman in order to get those guys. I mean could you imagine this team without those 3??Purple bruise wrote: Last year's draft got rave reviews by most experts. Spielman brought in Greg Jennings and raped the Seahawks in the Harvin trade. When you get maybe the next most dynamic player in the league (Patterson), a corner in Rhodes (unlimited potential) and Floyd, who will come into his own next year I would say that you did great. The years before drafting Harrison Smith, Walsh, Kalil, Rudolph were/are top shelf players for a long time.

I think there is no doubt that Spielman knows how to draft and isn't afraid of making trades to get the guy he wants and that has showed. Many complain that he left holes open for so long such as LB, OG, etc but what many don't understand is that if he were to fill those holes instead...we would then have holes at positions like WR, TE, LT, S, DT, etc. So no matter what way you look at it....there would have been holes on this team regardless. When you rebuild like that....it takes some time.
