Re: 2015 NFL Trade/FA Thread
I think Kaepernic on the Eagles would be sick, and it makes more sense than trading up to pick MariOta. Indeed some crazy manuevering.

SanFran has reportedly been shopping Kaepernick. Eagles don't have the players the 49ers want. Rams won't trade Bradford within the division. Eagles get Bradford and then trade him to SanFran for Kaepernick plus some additional compensation.
Bank it.
I don't know about this, it could be for Kaepernick, but I don't see why it couldn't be for Mariota either, who actually has history with Chip Kelly.
At first I didn't think this was a trade for Bradford as trade bait type of deal because the Eagles gave up a 2nd round pick to do so. But after reading the full details of the deal, I think there's a pretty interesting twist to the trade that almost suggests they are looking to use Bradford in a second trade.
They were looking to unload Foles anyways so for now I think we can ignore him in the deal. The Eagles gave up a 2016 2nd round pick and a 2015 5th and 6th round pick for Bradford, a 2015 5th round pick and potentially a 2016 conditional pick. If Bradford plays less than 8 games next season for the Eagles, they will get a 2016 4th round pick back, and if he plays no games for the Eagles, they will instead get a 3rd round pick.
So in theory, if the Eagles turn around and swap Bradford and change for Kaepernick or a pick high enough for Mariota, Bradford will not play a game for the Eagles. Meaning that the Eagles get a 2016 3rd round pick. With that in mind, the trade would actually turn out to be more along the lines of:
Eagles get:
2016 3rd round pick
2015 5th round pick
A necessary piece (Bradford) to swap for the QB they wanted all along.
Eagles give up:
2016 2nd round pick
2015 5th round pick
2015 6th round pick
Nick Foles
So essentially they'd be moving down out of the 2nd round to the 3rd round next year, and giving up a 6th round pick to move up in the 5th this year, and Nick Foles whom they were giving up regardless, in order to trade for the QB they wanted all along (Kaep or Mariota).
Complicated but if it turns out to be true, pretty clever move by Chip. Otherwise this trade looks to be a gross overpay for an average, injury riddled QB.

Re: 2015 NFL Trade/FA Thread
Thanks for breaking that down, Kurtis. What an interesting proposal.

Re: 2015 NFL Trade/FA Thread
Wow....that's like an NBA trade.
I'm still not clear on what it will cost them to move up high enough to nab Mariota...or how high that would be...I assume #2 or 3?.
Also I don't see how Bradford nets them Kap. If I was trading Kaepernick, I think I'd rather have Foles before Bradford....but not too fond of either. Why would SF do that deal...unless it was loaded with some picks?
Maybe they are going to move up.

49ers will release WR Stevie Johnson per Ian Rapoport
Jets very serious about re-uniting with Cromartie.
Eagles agreed to terms with CB Walter Thurmond III, formerly of the Giants, on a one-year contract.
The San Jose Mercury News "hasn't heard a peep" about free agent Michael Crabtree.
Free agent edge rusher Jason Worilds says he's retiring after five years in the NFL.
According to PhiladelphiaEagles.com, coach/GM Chip Kelly identified Sam Bradford as a "special talent who can make this offense soar."

When we were rumored to be talking to Crabtree, there were some people here who said they would prefer Johnson. If he's available, how much would you think he's worth?dead_poet wrote: 49ers will release WR Stevie Johnson per Ian Rapoport

I'd love to go get him for like 2.5 million a year for two years. I have always really liked his game.Crax wrote: When we were rumored to be talking to Crabtree, there were some people here who said they would prefer Johnson. If he's available, how much would you think he's worth?

The Lions have begun informing agents around the NFL that they're out of the mix for free agent Nick Fairley.

@mattvensel #Vikings showed interest this weekend but nothing going on there. MT @vxmcclure23 Adrian Clayborn is scheduled to visit the Falcons today.

Re: 2015 NFL Trade/FA Thread
@EaglesInsider Kelly said #Eagles were offered a first-round pick this morning for Bradford
@DanGrazianoESPN Chip Kelly: "I think Marcus is the best QB in the draft. We will never mortgage our future to go up and get someone like that."
@JasonLaCanfora So within 5 mins of speaking in Philly Chip Kelly says he never asked to run the roster, Bradford is his guy, no Mariota trade.
@AlbertBreer Kelly says bc of financials, Eagles saw it as getting Maxwell and Alonso for Shady.
@JasonLaCanfora If Kelly was offered a 1st for Bradford, my guess is it has Browns written all over it. And if Kelly wanted Mariota he'd have taken it...

@PSchrags: Sources tell me Eagles are now "very much" in play in the DeMarco Murray chase.

Is it so hard to believe that Bradford is the guy Chip wants to run his offense? I for one have always thought Sam could be a very good QB, he's just a gamble because of his health.

I agree. I've always liked Bradford. His health and offensive weaponry have never really been connected (adding in the fact that he's had how many different offensive coordinators in his Rams career?).frosted wrote: Maybe..
