I'm thinking Jerome Bettis , Craig Ironhead Heyward ... type
a complete beast who knocks defenders out of the way

Hard to find. I actually thought Boobie was pretty beast, but the Vikings did a decent job tackling him. Not a lot of huge guys like Bettis and Heyward with good feet, but I do LOVE the idea of finding one. That's my type of football.

The problem with this in the NFL is the defenders are very big and fast..
So you need a guy that is a freak of nature for a big man...
IMO you need both power and speed in the running game A.P. was a freak that could do both as well
as stop and start on a dime, as well. HOF talent with a idiot brain .. so sad

Felton (who we have to keep, he's one of the best FB's imo) and Asiata can spell McKinnon. I really want to see Mck have the majority of the carries from here on out, and hopefully see some serious screen passes, with the Oline out in front.

Im think Asiata could be that guy, honestly. He is good at plowing forward for three yards, just not as shifty as mckinnon.

When the Saints had Sproles tbey were an offensive nightmare. So was the case at SD. I hope that we have that type of back in McKinnon. Sproles was not on the field full time, but McK could be and be a decoy whenever he isn't being utilized in his main role. I miss the good old days when the Vikings were a good screen team. Robert Smith busting those 69 yard td's was fun to watch.

Looks like Zimmer still likes Asiata, even if McKinnon produces more. Sounds like some previous offensive philosophies to me...

Mckinnon started and had way more carries. Why do you think he still likes Asiata more?

I think Zimmer is pulling the wool over your eyes if you're buying that line - McKinnon has out touched Asiata 38 to 10 the last two weeks. It's Jerick's job.

If we fix our OL into a awesome line, and get a battery ram to go with him .... 6-3 240- 250 guy that can wear
teams down and then let McKinnon go nuts in the second half
He is bigger and stronger than Barry Sanders or Harvin and was a "Beast" at the Combine. His numbers were off of the charts:
2014 NFL Combine[edit]
Pre-draft measurables
Ht Wt 40-yd dash 10-yd split 20-yd split 20-ss 3-cone Vert Broad BP
5 ft 9 in 209 lb 4.37 forty 1.52 s 2.49 s 4.12 s 6.83 s 40.5 in 11 ft 0 in 32 reps
All values from NFL Combine
Yeah, that's right, THIRTY TWO reps, that is more than most any other player at any other position

4.37 forty time, a 40.5 inch verticle
Harvin is 184 #s and runs a 4.41 forty /Sanders 5-8 190 #s.
What was Ricky thinking spending a 3rd. round pick on him

McKinnon, who played 27 snaps, ran 11 times for 40 yards and caught six passes for 42 yards against the Lions. Nevertheless, Zimmer wants to return to more of a two-back system for Sunday's game at Buffalo.
"We would like to get Asiata a lot more touches than probably what he got last week and maybe McKinnon a few less," Zimmer said.
That was before the Bills game though, so hopefully he saw something. There was a sound byte on KFAN earlier today that I thought was from this weeks presser saying something similar but can't find the audio.

Like I said, you can't believe everything you hear a coach say. McKinnon has out touched Asiata 38 to 10 the last two weeks. I think that tells the story.

The benchpress number is still shocking to me. He finished in the top 10 OVERALL with 32, tied with 332lb Greg Robinson and 310lb Ra'Shede Hageman. He outbenched several first round linemen.
